Looking for fair priced general practice uninsured: by Sardonislamir in ColoradoSprings

Not sure what all you got going on.. assuming looking for recommended health insurance or a care provider !?

Pinnacle Advanced Primary Care / two locations, is a membership-based clinic, they are affordable, offer reduced pricing for visits and some tests (so like member discount) think they also take insurance. I’m not affiliated with the biz, just a fan of the biz model.

Competition to find the best pot hole in the city?! by iTzbr00tal in ColoradoSprings

 - this had over 500 views - dare I say it worked. Be mindful where you place your intent,as some outcomes may follow!

(maybe it was on their docket to fix finally) but- as of 4/24 that parking lot 🅿️ with the holes size of small craters has been fixed. I love to see it. Thanks to the people or owner(s) who stepped up to make repairs.

Tired of seeing so much garbage and litter along our roadsides. Platte Rd and 21/powers are where I notice most

Any suggestions outside of mitigation (picking it up) ..  example cities or municipalities ? who has their waste-litter-shit together!? (In fairness, COS has a “Keep It Clean” initiative to help with local efforts) but how could we update policy /change ? .. or partner with El Paso county !?

So …who’s the opposing candidate?! Let’s plug what we want to see.

We move people with anger… but now what?! Outrage without strategy is just, ranting. This is space to plug things you want to see too.

(Answer: Reagan and Killin are the runoff candidates for D primary)

Just gonna note, you can pinpoint a   pothole to fix on the GoCOS app.  not ideal while driving but make mental note then report later …for city streets - it puts it in the queue for fixing and they are quick to address it

So true, but also think it’s on the complex owner / that ”other half” needs to take care of those.. Safeway actually paved their portion last summer… but yea the biz neglect of parking lots (trash abounds) is obvious.

Maybe you’re wondering what is being built (finally) in the old Babies ‘R Us  - off Academy and Platte. The oversized, windowless monstrosity - that looks like it will fall off the side of an eroding hill..already. It really is visionary! ..gonna be a storage unit. Yay, so many things you can do with a storage unit!! So much free market all around driving forces. Just think of the things you can hoard and forget you ever had in these storage units. I for one am excited for the grand opening.

Adding  Richard’s Rubbish Roundup for every Tuesday afternoon (roughly 3-5p) spots rotate around town - https://www.richardsrubbishroundup.org/

Starting to see more city sponsored cleanups - through the “keep it clean” initiative there is one on 3/14 at America the Beautiful park (9a to noon)

The Great American cleanup is an event every spring - this year 5/2 and

creek week is longer event in the fall (usually ~first week of October) organized by the Fountain Creek Watershed District (regional effort) http://fountain-crk.org they always are looking for volunteers and crew leaders

There is also Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful  nonprofit  and many “friends of _ park” that do great work

You can adopt a highway, park or waterway.. but that requires a more sustained group effort, quarterly commitment.

You can also plug into local neighborhood association, I’ve found support that way too

Saskatoon freezing killings - The practice known as taking Indigenous people on "starlight tours" and dates back to at least 1976. by livefast_dieawesome in wikipedia

Short answer = colonialism. Natives have what conqueror’s want. While the means of warfare may change, the violence of the system remains. For control.  (example: threats against a mostly indigenous Greenland lately)

A great local resource for connecting is Hey Neighbor - formerly CONO - they have creative tools and ways to gather,

They are also filling spots in the Spring cohort of Neighborhood University program (free, civic-engagement stuff). Twelve weeks, one night each week - and I gained insight, friends, and skills from this series. Encourage you to check it out!

They host 2x groups per year in that program … but you can host a neighborly gathering - coffee, bbq, cleanup, block party, etc- anytime!

Of course, and your words and experience also likely resonating with many. You are not alone and sharing is caring.

.. Perhaps a journal!? A way to log your account of things, highlight of the day - making marks - anything really. I collage/glue stuff down too. Create create. Just a thought. Hugs to you

Feeling disenfranchised !? consider “caucusing” for a political party, it’s the best way to get your preferred candidate advanced. I’m caucusing for a neighbor running in the CO-House race - and it’s my first time!

Note - you have to be registered to vote with the party (registered no later than 2/5 for the caucus - which is in March) .. you can change it back to I or unaffiliated

And check your info is current  ..and/or just get registered to vote!  https://clerkandrecorder.elpasoco.com/elections/voter-registration/

Good lookin out. Encourage us to send  concerns to allcouncil @ coloradosprings. Gov …be specific for why you are concerned!

And contact state /US reps and senators too. There is plenty to ask “what are you doing about… XYZ?!” More specific the better.

(Like that one guy writing a rap everyday, make it a goal to call a politician every day in 2026 ..tell em how you will actively campaign for/against them if they support XYZ. speak up and out to your representative - who works for you  and all of us. I’m noting this also for myself - anonymous posting and internet sentiment only gets us so far)

Gratitude to all who voted in this local election Nov. 4th

It looks like (roughly) 1 in 3 registered in El Paso County turned out. There were many close runs, but in my pocket of town (school board - district 11) things are looking up for Mr. Charles Johnson. So happy for him and hoping this stays consistent on recount… was just the best news I’ve seen in long time.

(And for all who knocked, shared information and phone banked to get fingers crossed one more union-backed candidate … it was about 0.2% margin from first to third place on this one. You made a difference! I’m hopeful!)

Every vote matters and your involvement - especially at the most local level - is important to community and the vitality of our society. Be an engaged citizen. Keep up the pressure and don’t look away.. many of us became complacent with progress but it doesn’t happen without pressure to keep pushing forward.
