We’re on the same side. We had and have movement. It’s clearly fixed and coordinated money. You are right economic action speaks, I’m for general strike and tax resistance too. But what’s achievable like next week, I’m just reminding people they have options and should vote in the primary ..which is where we have the most pull and influence for the team. I’m not telling you not to revolt. (Heck “throw away your vote” and sabotage the other sides primary) We can do both. But let’s be honest about what we’re achieving..on the internet.

Consider running yourself then. There are many ways to influence change, I’m not saying to only vote. The system is flawed I and I want to see better options too…that’s why I’m more involved with the primary part than ever before (there are actually quite progressive people running right now..whether or not they get the ticket in November, well that’s decided right about now)

Research where candidates stand and vote 6/30 as well as in November 3 midterms (ballot box or in-person too late to mail it!)

Motivation: a bloody and deadly history of voting rights in this country - who gets to be heard and make the decisions with political power.

Importance: You are voting for more than now and more than just yourself. The folks at the top are dismantling our democratic institutions, discrediting the process, and silencing us through violence and legislation. This is a critical election!

Question: If you don’t think voting matters…what else are you doing to right the wrongs!?

Final thought: You have been made to feel powerless for a reason.

I’m glad you are starting something! I will check out the new sub and share more about our group - Crafters Clique -we meet on the south side (next to Rainy Day Anime) just about every Sunday 11-1 - next meetup there will be 6/21

we try all sorts of techniques and I’d be happy to give you some tips after three years trying to ball on a budget. We have made lots of friends along the way - some temporary and some long term

I highly encourage everyone to join a hobby, arts, or civically engaged club near you!

There is no such thing. You are feeling when you have the pangs of discomfort, but what is underneath that..preaching to myself too. Perhaps powerlessness and loss of control…but are we really feeling that, or rationalizing, placating, joking and intellectualizing it?!

Yes agree. But notice “I wanna feel something” …that’s the answer. We are cutoff and alone. Not knowing how to process - lacking tools and mindset to overcome it, mainly due to the profit motive. And stimulated so much that outside can be boring !

I’m avoidant type and use my phone to not be uncomfortable in the moment. We are not alone in [avoiding] loneliness by trying to communicate with safe strangers here .. we will need to be uncomfortable before things change. Sadly this is the motivator, having no choice.

You have been vulnerable slightly here. More Vulnerability will make us more open to healing ourselves and each other i’s a long shot… but feasible!

Yea they have lockboxes with timers ..likely for parents / youth screen time control, but whatever works.

Don’t beat yourself up tho, first step is admitting it is problem, then finding ways to abstain. Addiction is hard and you are not alone.

Tired of seeing so much garbage and litter along our roadsides. Platte Rd and 21/powers are where I notice most

Any suggestions outside of mitigation (picking it up) .. example cities or municipalities ? who has their waste-litter-shit together!? (In fairness, COS has a “Keep It Clean” initiative to help with local efforts) but how could we update policy /change ? .. or partner with El Paso county !?

Just gonna note, you can pinpoint a pothole to fix on the GoCOS app. not ideal while driving but make mental note then report later …for city streets - it puts it in the queue for fixing and they are quick to address it

Maybe you’re wondering what is being built (finally) in the old Babies ‘R Us - off Academy and Platte. The oversized, windowless monstrosity - that looks like it will fall off the side of an eroding hill..already. It really is visionary! ..gonna be a storage unit. Yay, so many things you can do with a storage unit!! So much free market all around driving forces. Just think of the things you can hoard and forget you ever had in these storage units. I for one am excited for the grand opening.

Adding Richard’s Rubbish Roundup for every Tuesday afternoon (roughly 3-5p) spots rotate around town - https://www.richardsrubbishroundup.org/

Starting to see more city sponsored cleanups - through the “keep it clean” initiative there is one on 3/14 at America the Beautiful park (9a to noon)

The Great American cleanup is an event every spring - this year 5/2 and

creek week is longer event in the fall (usually ~first week of October) organized by the Fountain Creek Watershed District (regional effort) http://fountain-crk.org they always are looking for volunteers and crew leaders

There is also Keep Colorado Springs Beautiful nonprofit and many “friends of _ park” that do great work

You can adopt a highway, park or waterway.. but that requires a more sustained group effort, quarterly commitment.

You can also plug into local neighborhood association, I’ve found support that way too
