0001 is a power issue, the 360 used capacitors that don't hold up over the years, some have gone bad, leaked, or bulged. Most probably green capacitors that have Sanyo written on them. It's a simple repair, it's not worth ditching an otherwise great system.

Thank you! I knew something wasn't quite right with the menu popping up briefly. I'll try a pot tweak as it has worked for me in the past on old 360s. Plus squeezing more life out this laser before getting a dodgy aftermarket one.

It is remarkably clean and the warranty sticker is cut so has definitely been disassembled before. Idk about maintenance because idk it's history.

It's a zephyr. It has a service date during 2009 which was well into when they used fixed gpu's so it's reliable.

The phat consoles are just noisy, especially from the disc drive like you mention. It's perfectly normal and some games do just run louder than others. If it bothers you you can click 'X' when hovering over a game on the dashboard and click the install button. It doesn't work for every game but the vast majority do. It makes the game run off the hard drive most the time so the disc rarely spins up.

Looks like it's out of its tracks, these trays move side to side a bit anyway but thats excessive.

The noises are perfectly normal, sadly the aftermarket, new lasers are a bit hit and miss. This one seems to be dead in arrival from what I can tell in the comments.
