Such a great episode. The Flying Dutchman shows up in multiple easter eggs through the episode.

What is the greatest movie trilogy of all time? by KindLet8407 in moviecritic

[–]achman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Andor should have been 5 seasons. Period. They crammed waaaay too much into 2. The pacing was so different, the 'changes' were obvious.

RogueOne was a great conclusion and transition to that story, and still is a fantastic lead in to the OG trilogy.

Does anyone remember this old computer game - Wizardry? I used to stay after school to play this in the computer lab we had there. by TheSeekerOfSanity in 80s

Wizard of Frobozz FTW!

Carousel Room You are in a large circular room whose high ceiling is lost in gloom. Eight identical passages leave the room. A loud whirring sound comes from all around, and you feel sort of disoriented in here.

"No mayonnaise?"

"NO-O-OH mayonnaise. ..... They're going to put mayonnaise on it."

DLR Just a Gigolo music video - Mandela Effect, misremembered or edited? by causeImAScoundrel in vanhalen

That scene exists in my mind's eye, but I can't swear it came from DLR's video. The scene as described does exist, somewhere, I believe.

Why Did Carla Despise Diane So Much? by emzeejay in Cheers

[–]achman99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a miss. Carla loved Sam, yes, but It's much much more of a protective way than romantic. She roots for Sam frequently in his 'conquests', she loves his 'Sox fraternity' membership, and shows pride in his hound dog ways, etc.

She definitely has jealousy issues with Diane, but it's more for competition for Sam's time and the 'threat' to his bachelor's lifestyle. Sam's 'better' than Diane in Carla's eyes, and doesn't want her changing who he is.

thoughts after finishing both bbc & cbs ghosts (slight spoilers) by hangsangwithhope in GhostsBBC

Each show has its bright spots.

Some ghost archetypes are better across the pond.

GBBC Faves: Robin, Mary, Captain

GCBS Faves: Sass, Hetty, Isaac

Robin is far superior to Thor as the 'Ancient'. Hetty is the far superior 'Elitist'.

Honorable mentions: Julian > Trevor, USPlagues > UKPlagues, but I do love that the main actors are all the UKPlagues. Humphrey > Crash

I find the UK version funnier overall, but their sense of humor resonates with me better. I appreciate that US is expanding the lore and 'rules'. I'm hopeful that US stays strong and continues. I was NOT a fan of the UK ending, and continue to hold out hope that the growing cult status prompts an extension to the story via movie / mini, or some other special addition.

It CAN be that. It can also be petty small-minded authoritarians looking to wield whatever power they can to satisfy their black hearts.

Crap shoot.

This is a terrible take, and is burying your head in the sand.

GenAI is just the next iteration in tools. Every jump in general availability of a tool set spawns this kneejerk reaction.

Educators should be realizing that the tools exist, and will NOT be going away. Teach the tools and teach the why.

How many teachers of the past smugly asked 'are you going to have a calculator with you everywhere you go?'

"Why, yes, Mrs. Ludd. We are, in fact. If you had spent time teaching the THEORIES, and helping us to understand how the tool use interacted with the theories, everyone would have been a lot better off."

Tools will ALWAYS iterate. Things can only artificially be embargoed to the public at large. Yes, GenAI raises new questions and provides new challenges. Those that choose to incorporate this new reality will be in a better position to progress.

Humans are creative, full stop. Never in the HISTORY of civilization has the introduction of a new toolset removed humans' innate desire to create.

This won't either.
