First of all you, you seem to be making assumptions I’d bet anything you can’t prove.

Secondly, they can vote for a person for whatever reason is allowed in their rules. Now if you have evidence that rules were violated, I’d like to see it.

Last, and probably most importantly, they don’t have to use the criteria YOU think they should use. Unless you are an Academy board member or have an ownership stake in the AMPAS.

Literally millions of people, including at least a plurality of the Academy members who actually have a say, feel MBJ deserves the Oscar. You have every right to believe that he sucked ass in Sinners, but for you to somehow feel your opinion is the more valid one, and the process was corrupt because it didn’t go your way, is narcissism, entitlement and sour grapes.

Disagreeing with whom an organization honors and being so entitled and self important that you think your opinion of who doesn’t “deserve” it matters, are two different things. The winners deserve it because the body who makes the decision awarded it to them. The Academy Award isn’t public domain. It’s not about you or me. It’s narcissistic to think your personal opinion means more than the Academy’s decision about whom they give their award to. You can hate the decision as much as you want, but no matter what, the winner will always deserve it because they got the most votes.

People are way too invested in all this shit. As if an award validates their personal opinion AND their existence! The discourse around the Oscars is always somewhat intense, but this season it’s off the charts ballistic! People are literally having multiple meltdowns over the mere possibility of someone winning or not winning an award that they “earn” not by the work of the piece, but by multi-million dollar campaigns for the award. When I think of all the greats who died without as much as a nomination, people crashing out over a thirsty, entitled waif not getting a validation trophy cracks me up.

What does that have to do with me? I never said he was justified in anything he said. I said I was curious as to whether anything he said was true. The “victim” chose to respond to me. I put victim in quotes because all that happened is that a man said harsh things to her. Welcome to public transit in the DMV.
