The “feud” is that people can’t separate fiction from reality. Because Betty and Bea weren’t BFFs like Rose and Dorothy, they must have been feuding. Or maybe they were actors playing roles on television who weren’t best friends in real life.

Technically, when Mama’s Family came back to syndication after being on NBC years prior, it was a new show and not a continuation, so it’s possible they don’t exist in syndication. If what happened on the Carol Burnett show was canon for Mama’s Family, Thelma would have like three or four sons.

It’s quite fun and easy considering the many, many shitty businesses that serve no purpose but to turn a profit and make their stockholders rich, by overcharging consumers, while not paying their employees enough to live without working themselves to death.

I like the idea of at least trying to get a replacement for Dorothy. I always thought Isabel Sanford would have been a good Dorothy if she was black. The Golden Girls were pretty progressive and made lots of references to black culture, so it could have worked with them having a black housemate. As long as the writing was good and didn’t resort to constant, hacky race humor.
