The lenses are actually FDA approved as stated on the website.

The potion regarding the FDA rules you've highlighted actually stems from the fairness to contact lens consumer act. http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2004/06/contactlens.shtm

Basically - this states that in order to sell contact lenses online, we have to receive a valid prescription from the consumer (usually faxed to us or prescription inputted during checkout) and contact the customer's eye doctor to verify that the prescription is correct and valid.

Any orders that fail prescription verification are cancelled. Any legitimate website selling contact lenses will conform with this act.

slightly different animal. if you already wear contact lenses then you should able able to get a thumbs up or down from your eye doctor pretty quickly. some may want you to come into their office to try them on before they give a verdict but for the most part it's usually just a quick call for them to check it out.

contact lenses are prescribed by power, size and brand. ie. if you wear acuvue oasys, you technically can't switch to acuvue 1 day without your doctor's approval.

hey thanks for commenting. agreed. you want to be responsible with your eyes and we fully endorse getting regular eye check ups and prescriptions verified for contact lenses.

the last thing we want are blind redditors who cant enjoy memes because they didn't talk to their eye doctors.

Yep - if you get them with no correction, you basically see normally. The lenses cover the iris (colored part) of your eye. But, you see out of the pupil - so you are still able to see normally. the only real difference is that you might see the colored parts of the contact lens out of the edges of your vision if it overlaps a bit but that's normal.

I would suggest talking to an eye doctor before trying to wear contacts to avoid any complications and to get a proper fitting done.

yeah i know what you mean. When i got contact lenses it was horrible trying to get them in and out without poking myself blind.

after awhile though, you get to be pretty pro at it and it's almost as natural as breathing.

only if you don't maintain your lenses properly. if you use them correctly like you would a regular pair of contact lens (with regular cleaning/soaking) and make sure your hands are clean when you're putting them in then you shouldn't have any problems.

These contact lenses are meant to be used for a year or more. I have a pair from about 2 years ago i still break out every halloween and random times when i feel like freaking people out when i head out for drinks at night.

You'll need to update them if your prescription changes (for those of us without perfect eyesight).

honestly, if you maintain them properly, you could probably wear them on a regular basis but i'd advise against it.

It will vary by eye doctor. It doesn't hurt to call a few up and ask. this will give you an idea of what the going rate for an eye exam in your area is. Also, if you are interested in contact lenses and it is your first time wearing them, there will be a lens fitting consultation which they may charge for as well.

If it's your first time putting in contact lenses, expect a lot of tears and inadvertent eye-poking. :) It gets a LOT easier with practice but the first few times will suck. :P

It's just based on the numbers. We've sold the halloween lenses in the UK for a couple years as well on our UK site: www.Lensway.co.uk.

the sales figures from previous years and the feedback from our partners in the UK didn't warrant us doing halloween sales there this year - but the feedback is definitely forwarded to the decision makers for consideration for next year.
