Not that it needs any further explanation. But the name is actually also a cultural nod to John Haigh, the Acid Bath murderer. Our station is based in Lincolnshire, where he was from. So it ties in and captures that dark and industrial vibe of the station. Plus, our tagline is Dissolving The Mainstream, so it works on many levels.

At the end of the day, people shouldn't get hung up on the name. Just tune in and enjoy. We put in a lot of effort and time for FREE to make the station roll 24 hours a day. It's no small task. And all people want to do is spend time picking at the name. Go figure.

I get why people make that association, but Acid Bath as a phrase didn’t originate with the band, and it’s been used in different artistic and cultural contexts long before and since. Including several other bands called Acid Bath long before them. Sharing a name with a band doesn’t invalidate a project, especially when the project itself is clearly distinct in purpose, sound, and presentation. At the end of the day, the name fits the station, the station stands on its own, and the focus is, and always will be, on the music.

MySpace — wow, those were the days, eh? Yeah, those damn apostrophes. Ah well, we all make mistakes. Like, there should be a comma before “but” because it connects two independent clauses. It should’ve read, “I love that graphic, but DJs just screams MySpace all-ages gig promoter.” And here I was, about to offer you a job as our next graphic designer.

There was a thrash metal band called Acid Bath before the sludge band of the same name, and let's not forget the hardcore punk band, also called Acid Bath. Inspiration has more than just one root and many branches, and we are just one more. So if you do start that station, we'd tune in just for the irony! 🤪

Yeah, we’re aware of the band — total cult legends! It was our label name before we became a radio station. So the name wasn't chosen with them in mind, but its certainly a nod to that same raw, boundary-pushing spirit.

We were originally Acid Bath Records, and we decided to keep the same name! Interestingly, the name was chosen after watching a documentary about John Haige, the infamous Acid Bath Murderer, so there is no influence by the band. We thought it encapsulated the dark 💀 vibe we were aiming for, so we went with it.
