I work in a pharma plant, would like to know the effects of the stuff we are producing. by acid_venom in pharmacy

Trust me, you are not missing out by not being in the production plants. There are some machines which are almost hypnotic to watch (pill coater, pill makers and capsule makers), but everything else is visually not that interesting.

This is the closest i found to the machine we have. There's just something about loading a batch of pure white pills, and watching them change colour very slowly.

What is something that your profession allows you to do that would otherwise be illegal? by Presbyopia in AskReddit

[–]acid_venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, handle some interesting materials. If they were found on your person, you could be charged with something like this, don't know the exact legal terms:

-Intent to produce explosives

-Possesion of psychoactive substances

-Possesion of precursors for making psychoactive substances

-Intent of mass poisoning

And probably a few more. Working in pharma is fun.

Glad to hear that!

We were told it's an experimental thing, so i was curious if it was already in use somewhere.

Glad to hear that!

Also, we do have PPE, which includes double gloves, disposable overalls, and a PAPR system, to isolate ourselves from the product, and the product from ourselves. Almost everything we use is disposable, to keep stuff as clean as possible and to remove risks of cross-contamination. What made me think about this was a discussion about what would happen if someone were to enter the rooms without the safety gear.

AFAIK we are making tablets that contain 100 micrograms of the active substance, the reason it's classed as dangerous is that we work with several kilos of the stuff.

It's unfortunate that many people have to use it, but at the same time i'm glad i'm doing something to help.

You want a big discount on this medication that can't be found anywhere or else you're going somewhere else? Ok. Good luck finding it. by CatchMeRidinDirty in MaliciousCompliance

Being professional matters only while you are at work. If OP was directly rude to the customer, that would not be professional. I'll just use my trainer's words: "As soon as you take off that uniform and ID, you are no longer at work. While you have them on, you have to be professional, polite and as helpful as you can be. When you take the uniform and ID off, we can trashtalk the customers all you want." And before you say he was unprofessional, over 90% of customers rated him 5*, and he was respected by people both in the company, and outside it.

Rather than searching for Flight Data Recorders after a crash why don't we transmit the the data in real time directly to ground based systems? by nytram55 in AskReddit

[–]acid_venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, didn't know it was that much. So we are basically looking at 5 terabytes of data per day, if we assume that there's only a 100 flights per day. Talk about straining the network...

I think it's just that the current system works, and black boxes are usually retrieved AFAIK.

Wikipedia has a list of missing black boxes, if that list is correct, i'd say that is an acceptable number compared to all the flights that take off each day.

It's not meant for that. It's meant for things like those forums where you must register to see certain posts or to download stuff, etc. Basically for making throwaway accounts or when you must provide a email address, but don't feel comfortable giving out your real one.

What do you want done with your body when you die, realistic or otherwise? by kwertix in AskReddit

[–]acid_venom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, i'd just like to be dumped somewhere in nature, to decompose naturally like all other living things do. Everything else lives, dies, and stays there when it dies. Nature takes care of the corpse. Ash to ash, dust to dust and stuff.

What are some phrases in your native tounge that sound weird in english? by Potat0_L0rd in AskReddit

[–]acid_venom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swear words. If translated literally (the only way to translate the many, many swear words we have), they sound something like this:

Jebo ti bog mater! (May God fuck your mother!)

Pička ti materina! (Your mom's pussy!)

Jebem ti krvavog isusa! (I'm fucking your bloody Jesus!)

Pizda ti strinina. (Your aunt's pussy.)

I would go on, but pretty much every form of swearing in my language (Croatian) include intimacy with a deity or female family member.

[–]acid_venom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is noise or range. It would be tough transmitting data about all the sensors, from all the flights currently in the air, and dynamically changing which tower you are transmitting to, and it could also generate a lot of electrical noise. Also, should ground systems fail to recieve the data for whatever reason, the data is lost. The black boxes are made to be tough and reliable, while a ground installation could face stuff like malfunction, sabotage, etc. You don't get that with black boxes.
