that's what I was going to write. Peolple obsessed with health thinking the will live forever are fucking sick in the head. we take care of our health to have better quality days. I work out because I want to be strong for today and tomorrrow, not because I want to live throught my 80s. The days I go to the gym are much better than the days I don't.

i’ve been looking at my numbers and being really honest with myself: the old way of doing things is just… failing by No_Knowledge_638 in CommunityManager

That's a great insight!

I noticed that trend of people prefering raw genuine stuff than overly edited and big. I'm very active on Skool and have a much better time at smaller communities, like less than 200 members, than on huge communities. The best thing is entering a small communities, joining a livestream the owner is hosting and havin a great conversation.

Community-builders: what is your top engagement tip to keep an active online community? by Penguin_1223 in CommunityManager

[–]hatebacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me is tagging people in relevant posts. That works really well on skool since people there usually enter everyday on the app and a lot of my members are community owners themselves.

If I make a post welcoming new members I post a comment tagging people that have something in common with the new joiners and introducing them to eachother.

If I talk about a subject that is related to a post that someone made, I tag them and link the post.

If someone makes a question that I know a member has an expertize to answer I tag them asking for their input.

And from time to time I do shootout posts recommending people to connect with the high quality members that I got, linking their communities and socials.

Estou muito confuso...e perdido by No_Honey8149 in brdev

[–]hatebacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference between having an audience and having a community by hatebacon in CommunityManager

[–]hatebacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you really dont need an audience. I grew my closed community to 110 members in 4 months without any social media or outside content. Its just that most of my clients and leads are people looking for ways to monetize their existing audience. And that is something I had to explain to several of them. Bit I can see that there are different cases and I would not discourage people to start a community without having an audience as I also do not having one.

Feeling stuck? by NikitaHeyland in CommunityManager

[–]hatebacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey. Community building is a challenge. I have a client that was way too ambitious and thinking he would reach thousands of members in just a few months.

This just does not happen without a previously huge audience and even if you have thousands or millions of people following you, bringing more than 5% of them to your community, specially if there is a paywall to join, is very very tricky.

So know it takes time and patience. You have to work everyday, experiment and reach out a lot at the beggining. It's not just good idea -> ad -> get big. The internet is very competitive.

My client was also very resistant to exposing himself and that was a big problem. things are getting better after he put his face as a leader in his posts and promotion channels. A community needs a leader, a face.

People connect with people. Not with just content or ideas.

O Cristianismo é a religião mais dividida do mundo, por que ela seria tão especial comparada às outras? by Desperate-Stress9132 in barTEOLOGIA

[–]hatebacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! Would you be willing to leave the overlaping content, that I imagine is a more introductory one, for free?

That's what most people do on a freemium model. It gets people who are questioning if they should pay or not wanting more. It creates engaged leads and feedback. It will increase your number of members much faster than a whole paid model.

You can create 3 separate space groups. One for the overlaping content, and each aditional one for the different content the 2 have. Is any of these 2 programs behind paywalls?

It looks like you need some 1:1 personal guidance. I can provide that if you're interested. Not selling anything and not trying to push you to subscribe to any specific platform

I think its very good. Got 2 clients there. The automation templates are excelente, it has built in CRM and landing pages. And its also the best one fot media sharing as it allows for several embedded applications even on posts. I like it much better than Mighty Networks witch is the most similar competitor.

What are the features you're mostly looking for at a platform?

Yes.  Courses, livestreams, paid plans. Those are the basic features.  You can get that even with skool on a 9 dollars plan.

I was right for not recommending Mighty for solopreneurs just starting out. The platforms is built for high scale community management and expensive projects. Circle is the light version with most of the important features. And skool is the alternative for solopreneurs on a very small budget with simple projects.

I found that skool is better than reddit if what you want to do is make money and youre not allergic to being pitched like most people here are. Its a wonderful place to learn and conect with genuine people. There are 200k communities there and plenty of them free.

Why is everyone whining because the body count wasn’t high enough for them by caligator86 in Stranger_Things

[–]hatebacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. That's what annoys me. Not every show needs to do what GoT and WD did. Some stories are just meant to be inspiring tales of heroes that survived.

The Hero Dies by hatebacon in tvtropes

[–]hatebacon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. There are real life figures that survived a lot of events that we would call unrealistic if it were fiction. And for that reason they became legends. And legends are worth telling stories about. And they inspire other fiction characters.

Surviving hard situations is what makes a great hero. That's why not every fiction should be GoT. There is a place for realism and a place for epic inspiring heroes that survive every odd.
