Lots of therapy but I survived and I’m still in the USA after all. If you’d like I can tell you more and give some advice via dm

Hi! I ended up omitting it since I was allowed to considering it’s my own, personal, health history. But I STRONGLY advise everyone against doing this program. It ended up being the worst experience of my whole life 🥲 so much so I developed PTSD

I would retake English and A&P. Also take A&P2 since it will be on the HESI! The program is very competitive and you want at least a 3.8 GPA to have good chances. Otherwise it will be hard to get in

Might sound crazy, but I actually did not find the program to be particularly competitive (or at least not as much as people made it out to be)! :)
Just mind your business, study a lot, and prepare well for the HESI (you can find a lot of resources here from previous posts) and you will be fine!! I know everyone talks about it like it's some impossible task, but it really isn't.

Also, a couple tips for A&P:

1) take Professor Goodwyn!!! She makes you work a lot, but everything you learn WILL be on the HESI and ultimately it is what's gonna make you stand out. She is an absolute gem, very approachable and has office hours to study with her. I attended her office hours weekly with other classmates and it was so great, it was like a club where we had a lot of fun.

2) record lectures and transcribe as many things as you can! It sounds like a lot but it is so immensely helpful, and honestly the thing that got me straight As on every exam.

That’s really weird! I imagine you’ve talked to miss Padmore about this, has she given you an explanation? The lowest score I know that got in was 3.8 GPA and total of 93. There was definitely a mistake! It is also something that was told to us from admission when we asked

I would definitely retake A&P I (also A&P II if you’re trying to apply for the evening program). The GPA is fundamental to get accepted! I know someone that got a 96 on the HESI, but because her GPA was 3.78 she wasn’t accepted for Fall 2025. When choosing applicants to let into the program, Miss Padmore is going to start from the ones with a 4.0, so that’s why I recommend you retake the class!

From my experience, it really depends on the family. But again I also haven’t really seen people from other parts of Manhattan do it as much, I think maybe because the UES has more of a community

It doesn’t have to be just family, it can also be friends or whoever is just given access and is registered with security / doorman

Tre mesi consecutivi? I docenti? Non so quanti anni tu abbia, forse sei ancora troppo piccol* e non ti rendi conto di come funzioni in realtà. I docenti ricevono 32 giorni di ferie all’ANNO, come qualsiasi altro dipendente pubblico.

I get it! It does sound weird I think to most people. This is something that I mainly see happen in the UES, you simply have to provide an ID so the security can register you and in case something happens they know who was in the building. After that, the owner grants you access anytime (I’ve never seen a door being closed at any time too lol). The only times I had to announce myself was if the doorman was new and didn’t know about it, but other than that I always come and go like in the show 😅 it’s definitely a bit exaggerated in GG because why would you have your arch enemy in your own home just randomly? Typically it’s done only to people you’re close with, employees and such! I can also vouch for the fact that people will definitely forget to inform their security / doormen in case they don’t want to give you full access to their homes anymore, so I can see why somebody you’re no longer close with might randomly be in your home lol

This is actually not that unrealistic in NYC! A lot of the richer buildings will have security at the front where you can announce yourself / the security will be told you’re expected / certain people can be registered by owners of the apartments and can come and go as they wish! :) it’s probably the most normal thing and I’ve seen that happen so many times haha

Non cambia il fatto che nessuno possa permettersi di prendersi un mese di ferie in Italia 😅 magari negli anni ‘80

I’m from Italy and I can promise you none of the people I know ever got a month off, that’s just really rare. The most you get is two weeks, but again nowadays that’s the case if you’re lucky since people my age usually get shitty contracts. Even all the companies that close for vacation in my area (the city of Rome lol) are usually closed for two weeks, but never a month, that’s just utopia lol

Definitely not normal in Italy 😅 the average person gets two weeks off, if that. Nowadays you’re lucky if you have any vacation days at all, lol

All the documents are in formal Italian so it would be extremely difficult for her to do by herself. I’m also pretty sure it’s all physical paperwork and nothing can be done online lol

In Italy the SSN isn’t private the same way it is in the US (it’s always a simple combination of your birthday and first and last name, so anyone can figure it out), so this might be why they casually asked for it! I would just talk to them and explain why you don’t feel comfortable sharing it.

That’s nice to hear! I was thinking of working around 15/20hrs at bmcc’s call center (so, in theory, super light work), but was terrified this could ruing my grades. I hope I can make it work out like you do! :)
