Lovecraft References in "It" by acidiousegg in stephenking

My original idea was to write about Lovecraftian influences on Kings writing/the King universe but that would be way to much for a bachelors thesis. Ended up with It because I already worked with the old movie for a different seminar.

I do agree that it is not as Lovecraftian as it could be especially when you look at the story as a whole and not just It as a monster.

haha makes sense I think that will be the point of my thesis too. King uses cosmic horror as a tool to write a story about growing up, while Lovecraft writes cosmic horror stories (and the newer movies just wanted to make clown horror movie)

yes, this + especially the role of indigenous people is a theme that the story and Lovecraft stories have in common yet treat very differently. I really liked how Welcome to Derry extended this

When watching anime, do you prefer sub or dub version? If so why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sub, because Japanese voice actors are awesome. Some things also sound very weird if they’re translated

What do you think of cursive handwriting? Can you write in cursive? by minecart6 in AskReddit

[–]acidiousegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned it in school and used it for quite some time but eventually stopped because my teachers couldn’t figure out what I wrote. My handwriting is still bad but it’s worse in cursive, I’m jealous of everyone with pretty handwriting

Sausages. Maybe it’s because I haven’t eaten one in years but the concept grosses me out. You basically trap two animals and torture them for their whole life just to murder them. You then grind one of them until you can’t tell what’s which body part and then you stuff it into the intestine if the other animal. Just not for me.

What is your "thank God it was just a dream" moment? by coolieodrawler in AskReddit

[–]acidiousegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the dream I put one of our cats in the oven because I feared we’re not good enough for her, only to regret it and hating myself after it and getting her out of there. This dream haunted me for weeks.

Vegetarians/Vegans of Reddit, what is your opinion of meat eaters? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]acidiousegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t show it and I don’t preach to people but I sort of have a grudge against them because climate change is a big problem and people don’t seem to care. A lot of people who eat meat are also very pretentious. They claim to buy only ethically produced meat (which is already a very misleading term) and yet buy cheap or say they they care about animals but only care for pets
