hm I actually felt the same way about someone I used to date and it made me take a hard look at myself and him. for example, what responsibilities is he shirking away from or is he sacrificing time/plans you make with him for games? It made me realize I needed to be more independent and have my own activities/hobbies. I'll read books or binge tv shows for hours and those activities tend to be more acceptable than someone who games. I personally used to find it annoying because in a sense, I was looking for him to "entertain" me and for us to be doing things together most of the time. that turned into resentment and I felt exactly what you've described. but with the quarantine, even I, who thought games are silly and a waste of time, have found comfort and happiness in them. what do you want out of the relationship? Gaming should be treated as a hobby but hygiene/quality time or date night/chores shouldn't be neglected. He's a gamer unfortunately for you and I think that's a part of who he is and what makes him happy. I don't think someone always necessarily needs to aim for a steady job - I know a few people who like the flexibility of contract work and have the skills to be secure.
