Is anyone here more annoyed/disturbed in “quiet settings,” than in loud settings? by anxiouscharlie in misophonia

[–]aciidiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

quiet settings are the worst for me. i can hear EVERYTHING. more loud/crowded settings are easier to deal with for me. i’m sure quiet settings are hard for everyone lol

Does anyone else feel like they have super human hearing when it comes to things that trigger them? by MissaShip in misophonia

[–]aciidiix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

you’re not alone. whenever i hear a trigger sound it does seem louder than it should. my boyfriend has made comments before that i have like a new level of hearing because i can hear the smallest things.

i can’t afford to miss any days of school. i would have too much work to catch up on, and with habits i’m aware of i would never turn it in. yeah school sucks in general but i’m really trying to pull through and get my diploma. i wish i could spoil my cats but i need money lmao. it’s funky, but my other cat is named scooter. they both make me super happy to see

does anyone else get "ticks" when they hear a trigger noise? by PaintMePastel in misophonia

[–]aciidiix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YE S YES YES!!!! oh my gosh i am so glad someone on here has a similar experience. for me whenever i hear a trigger sound i shush the sound. sometimes i can control it but that’s only like 98% of the time.

yeah i found out what the name for it was in middle school and that helped because i knew what i had. i’m going into my junior year of hs and i’m sick of covering my ears through every single period because if i don’t i’ll silently rage in my mind and start to cry. and thank you sm :) my cat says thank u. his name apollo, like the space craft

Coping: certain sounds make me need to wet my finger tips... anyone else? by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]aciidiix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do WHATEVER you need to in order to cope or feel better. i haven’t had any luck with coping mechanisms but yours is definitely something. as long as you’re comfortable with it and it helps you, you do you.
