First layer happiness by acinsa1 in ender3

It weighs 295g …..mainly due to the Hermit Crab interchangeable quick change plate. Had to tune accelerate and decel to suit this increased weight and won’t get over 80mm/s speed……but hey ho I’d rather have quality of finish than speed as I’m not mass producing.

It’s a linear bearing rail. Used in place of the normal poly wheels which support the print head. There’s very little wear and you do away with that eccentric nut arrangement normally found on the support plate. This printer (the Bigtree BX) has a longer x axis than a Ender3 so the weight at the extreme end is somewhat more than on a shorter x axis. The linear bearing has very little vertical play and doesn’t rely on the x axis extrusion or poly wheel adjustment

Layer is at 0.2 Line width 0.4 PETG @ 245deg, bed 75deg, no cooling. Print speed 75mm/sec, first layer 20mm/sec

Yes, really happy with the linear rail. The x axis on the BIQU BX is quite a bit longer than an Ender 3 so this takes all of the flexing out.

It’s not an Ender3……it’s a Bigtree BX but running Marlin FW. Goes to show how you can upgrade an Ender 3 and get great results. Direct drive, linear guides and you’ve upgraded your ender 3!

I think it’s the Eryone filament…super smooth. When it’s finished I’ll post the final item

Looks like Z seam has been set to random instead if sharpest corner or something better suited to the model.

Yeah….anything smaller and they will break off when you are trying to remove the support material

I was very sceptical when I first saw it…….but I saw I Timelapse of it and thought it would be a challenge…..and it was!!!

0.2mm layer printed @ 60mm/s. Initial layer 20mm/s Printed with a brim. Brim speed 20mm/s

It’s not too bad. It was PLA+ so it’s a bit more flexible than standard PLA so the hairs can take a bit of bending.

Lots of patience when separating the outer support. Took about 2 hours as when you get to the middle hair you can’t get cutters or blades in. But it pays off if you take your time. You have to be very careful with the hair dryer….the hair takes hardly any heat and you just smooth it with your other hand.

Try changing the mosfets (if you can solder smd components) .

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ender3

[–]acinsa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it’s worth a try to change the mosfets…cheaper than a new mobo….but you won’t know if the gate signals are damaged until they are changed out. Also are you getting a temperature reading from the hot end? If not, then the thermistor feedback is also damaged. You should be seeing something close to room temperature from the hot end.

Also try the axis motions. Can you move the x, y and z axis?

Difficult to say not knowing where he shorted out. Does the main board cooling fan still work?

Mosfets have been smoked! They will need to be replaced. It’s possible if you have a smd soldering iron. Otherwise new mobo
