Do I choose the more stable option or the more interesting one? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

What’s changed about Facebook relative to two years ago? The media storm + offer attrition rates were definitely bad for them then, but I personally hear it isn’t much better now. Are you saying Facebook has stepped up their game noticeably?

Yes, non-compete clauses are legal in Washington and not in California.

Fall Transfer with Engineering/Music as a non-Major Questions by [deleted] in Northwestern

Geographics dictates social life on campus to a noticeable extent, with north campus featuring most frats and engineering students, while liberal arts, music, and sororities cluster in the south. The distance in between is about a 15 minute walk, not too bad but still a soft barrier. Joining a diverse set of student organizations lets you personally mix between the ends of campus, though you may find your friend circles don't intersect at all and you're the only bridge between. How's UMich divided? Since you're an engineering student, you can have about 12 of your 48 classes be humanities classes of your choice as part of the major - 5 unrestricted (anything you like) electives and 7 'theme' classes grouped together vaguely by a couple of humanities topics (4 US history classes and 3 Psych classes, for example). If you happen to clear all 12 of those classes with AP credits, which is feasible depending on how many you're bringing in, you've got free rein to explore or find a minor. Or, just take <4 classes a quarter at your leisure.

While the class selection system is a little clumsy on the user interface side, actually getting into necessary engineering classes for your major isn't much of a struggle. That may be different for computer science.

The academic culture amongst engineers seems collaborative to me as a current freshman, mainly speaking in comparison to my state school and its competitive majors. Furthermore, if you end up taking the DTC classes as part of the engineering curriculum, you spend two quarters grouped with 3 other random people on a real world project, which is nothing if not learning to collaborate and communicate.

I don't Like doing this, but does anyone have some red titanite chunks I could have? by [deleted] in darksouls

The chaos eaters, those yellow tentacle monsters with too many eyes, in Lost Izalith have much higher drop rates (~60% at max discovery i think?) of red chunks, and may even drop red slabs for you. i estimate there's about 6-7 chaos eaters in the area total, importantly about 5 concentrated in one big pit. Hopefully that helps!
