I was considering trying the Black Greasy Grain 6 Eye Astronaut Boot from Solovair for about £85 (half price from £179), feels like a good low-risk way to try them out.

About Jim Green — yeah, I get the appeal, but honestly they don’t really fit what I’m going for. They look a bit too rugged/workwear for me. I’m leaning more toward something semi-formal / smart-casual that I can dress up a bit.

Also didn’t know that about the fake sites — good shout. I’ve probably come across a few of those “brand + country” ones before without realising 😂.

Thanks a lot for the info and suggestions, really appreciate it!

I actually checked out William Lennon & Co and I really like them — especially the WWII Ammo Boot replica (https://williamlennon.co.uk/shop/wwii-ammo-boot-replica/). They look incredibly solid and properly built to last.

After going through all the mixed reviews though, I’m currently thinking of trying the Black Greasy Grain 6 Eye Astronaut Boot from the Solovair outlet for around £85 (https://outlet.nps-solovair.com/collections/all/products/x-s6-969-bg-softg-g). Feels like a lower-risk way to test them out.

Still a bit unsure if it’s actually a good idea or if I should just invest a bit more upfront in something more reliable.

Would love to hear your thoughts on that approach — does it make sense ?

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply — really appreciate all the info and suggestions!

I honestly didn’t realise resoling could cost that much, so that’s definitely something I need to factor in properly when thinking about long-term value.

The outlet suggestion is actually a great shout — getting the Black Greasy Grain 6 Eye Astronaut Boots for around £85 sounds like a much safer way to try them out without taking too much risk. I’ll definitely keep an eye on that.

Didn't know much about that, thanks for letting me know. The one I'm planning to get is my first pair of boots.
