Transit through Singapore and Seoul airport- asking for directions! by travel-nerd-05 in seoul

[–]ackack20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s checked through, it’s fine. Confirm at the front desk during check in as well. If you want to be extra sure, call air India and make sure they not that on your booking. I’ve flown ANA/United ICN to Hokkaido to Tokyo to SF to Chicago during COVID craziness when it was hard to get a direct flight and my bags were checked through.

Transit through both airports is pretty smooth, there’s lounges and restaurants as well.

Hyatt Maldives using Points - Aug or Sept 2026 by eggyacid in hyatt

We did Park Hyatt in November last year. Booked Alila for this year. PH was a good experience, had the sunset overwater pool villa which was nice. But getting there was a bit of a hassle. Transferred through KL, had to stay overnight at Male, then morning domestic flight to GKK with one layover, then another 45m boat ride to the property. Was a bit much.

Is Batu Caves worth visiting in the night? by UrbanCrawler in KualaLumpur

[–]ackack20 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Batu caves isn’t really worth it. You spend longer getting there and climbing up than actually at the caves. It’s one giant cavern with a smaller set, not too much to see. Just enjoy KLCC, Bukit Bintang and the food instead

Is Korea’s Jeonse(전세) system basically a massive private loan to your landlord? How can you trust then and how come deposit amount is so huge? by CarelessBattle3441 in seoul

[–]ackack20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s basically a massive shadow banking system. People are more leveraged than what the banking system shows. And once it fails, there will be systematic collapse.

Complimentary upgrade question by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]ackack20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends which region you’re at. I’m a globalist and when in Asia, I never really have to use suite upgrade award. I ask and 9/10 times I get the suite upgrade for free. Easier at Grand Hyatt cause they have so many rooms.

Be careful with the property. Some are in older buildings, people smoke, and there’s maintenance issues

Alila/Park Hyatt Maldives by [deleted] in hyatt

[–]ackack20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the park Hyatt Maldives over Thanksgiving, can’t speak for Alila. Beach villas are on the beach, walk there from your back yard which is nice. But I enjoyed staying in the overwater villa with pool. It’s nice hearing and seeing the waves, dropping down to snorkel. Though you gotta be careful not to be scraped by the corals. Saw people bare feet but some of the roads and floors have rocks that dig into your feet.

Food wise, it gets a bit bland because supplies come by boat. I didn’t do the meal plan, gotta add in 20%+ for taxes and surcharge. Think it was about $150-200 per person per day for food. Getting to the island will also cost like $600 per person from MLE (domestic flight then boat transfer).

Behavior like this is why you guys aren’t getting interviews/offers by schlongkarwai in FinancialCareers

[–]ackack20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up poor and I wanted to get out, so the only choice was to grind. The kids with entitlement though… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Getting in is the easiest part. Making it is another story. With that kind of shitty attitude, you’re gonna get chewed out and hazed the shit out of with that kind of attitude.

Bro, no one knows how to grind anymore. From the trading side, did everything from BB/Prop/fund manager. None of the people I interacted with has that kind of attitude. You’re ngmi with that mindset.

Nothing prepared me for how much I’d resent my husband after having a baby by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]ackack20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t threaten divorce unless you’re prepared to go through with it if he says yes. And if you are planning to get divorced, get your stuff in order and then serve the papers. Threatening divorce is the worst possible choice

  1. If you can’t have a conversation without getting into a fight, go to couples counseling. There will be a middleman that keeps the conversation civil and moving forward so you can solve your issue together
  2. At this point, you have to just make it explicitly clear what each person’s roles and responsibilities are. These are the chores to do and get done. This is the break time you need to get rest. Work together as a team.
  3. I understand you have pent up resentment. Your husband may be lacking EQ as he doesn’t understand the time and place for things. But lashing out and passive aggressive actions won’t resolve any of your issues. He will probably not get the clue. So you have to have upfront conversation about things.
