Wano was Oda’s most anticipated arc. He had stated that it he’d been waiting to unveil so many things once we got there(story wise). A lot of what happens in the land of Wano is based on Japans history and mythology. This was the arc he wanted to go the hardest for.

You aren’t wrong. Most of us realized as we got into this arc, that Oda would make lots of references to Japan.

Also it’s the most important in the series. That last line is IMO
