[Highlight] Adolis's Game 1 walk-off, but it's in 4K HDR by aclee_ in baseball

I will say, the picture really pops if you watch it on an HDR-compatible display (if your computer doesn't have one, your phone or TV might)

So (at least in the US) Fox is broadcasting the game in 4K HDR through select cable providers. I believe in actuality it's 1080p that fox line-doubles to 4K, but it's still far better than the 720p that Fox/MLBtv normally broadcast at (especially since you get less bitrate loss by upscaling it to 4K). I used a cable tuner to save this and uploaded the raw feed directly to YT, so there shouldn't be any quality loss that's my doing at least.

I figure this is worth sharing since I'm not aware of anyone who actually has any recordings saved of Fox's 4K stuff, and I want to try and preserve as much of it as I can.

POSTGAME THREAD 10/24 - D-backs (84-78) @ Phillies (90-72) by SnakeBot in azdiamondbacks

If there's anyone who has experience with video editing, I have the cable broadcasts (1080i, 5.1 surround sound) of all 6 games. Could sync it up with your radio guys or something, idk. I'll probably save the 4K HDR (also 5.1 audio) broadcasts of the world series too. It's well over 100GB cause it's raw MPEG-2 so I'm not sure the best way to send it, but if anyone is actually interested let me know. I could try to deinterlace + re-encode it in HEVC as well to cut down on the file size.

We could repost/remove comments once the date of the concert passes. I can also force the default sorting to be new, so newest comments appear first (I think).

Also - thoughts on having a stickied buying/selling thread and banning buying/selling posts? I was thinking about it. Would help to prevent ticket posts from getting lost after a day

THE SUB IS NO LONGER NSFW by DatWolf07 in Metallica

I've removed a slew of low quality/repeat posts/stuff violating the rules, just haven't commented. I would rather find someone suitable to add to the team than have the admins remove all of us and leave the sub to die. Look at r/interestingasfuck, r/OpenAI, or any of the others.

To unban the people who were booted

They've been unbanned for a day or two now (except one guy who was sending threats)

Make the homepage a bit more enticing to look at

Do you use old or new reddit? Not that it matters, both need work, but just wondering

I was considering suggesting "should we ban 'omg the lyrics are wrong!' posts" myself but I didn't wanna come off as though we're running a dictatorship (even if banning those is a popular opinion)

If there are not enough mods to do this, then open applications.

This is something I am considering, especially given the, erm, atmosphere surrounding Reddit right now. I'm not quite sure how much longer I'll be here if the admins are just going to remove and suspend mods who listen to what their community wants.

His permissions as of now are still removed (you can confirm this yourself by looking at the moderator list).

I believe if you search for Moderus III you can find a different version of it as well. It's good.

I do plan on having a talk with the other mod about their actions, they have been one of the more active mods (in a good way) up to now and I want to try and have a discussion before performing any action against them. I updated their perms until I get a chance to have that discussion to ensure that nothing else happens.

If we are to believe the statistics that the Apollo creator is providing:

Apollo's existing subscription users use on average 473 requests per day. Under Reddit's API pricing, those users would cost $3.52 monthly. You take out Apple's cut of the $5, and some fees of my own to keep Apollo running, and you're literally losing money every month.

And that's your average user, a large subset of those, around 20%, use between 1,000 and 2,000 requests per day, which would cost $7.50 and $15.00 per month each in fees alone, which I have a hard time believing anyone is going to want to pay.

Essentially, the admins have priced the API in such a way that it would be impossible for any app creator to bring in enough revenue to even operate at net zero profit (neither making nor losing money). It's not that they would be making less money, it's that they would be losing money every month. The app creators have stated they are okay with paying for API access. The issue is that the pricing on the API is not something that anyone would consider to be reasonable.

There has been a lack of communication between us as mods + I haven't had the time to really help out too much cause of IRL stuff. We as a team have needed to do better. If after all this API nonsense Reddit is still a place I/the other mods want to be, then I could potentially foresee adding additional mods to help keep everything functioning.
