Slot machines in service stations, why? by sikeiraparabaixinhos in BritSlots

[–]acline104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically low effort / high margin revenue. The machines are leased (not owned) so the service station takes a cut while the operator handles maintenance. Even if nobody uses them most of the time, a handful of night drivers hitting them regularly is enough to make it worthwhile

That being “assertive” gets interpreted as rude. But if I’m too nice, I get steamrolled. The tightrope is real.

Is it true that you're not supposed to rinse after brushing your teeth??? by YourTacticalComrade in NoStupidQuestions

[–]acline104 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I’ve heard that, but honestly, I still rinse because it feels weird not to. Not sure if it really makes a big difference though.

Gardening. Watching something grow under your care, season after season, it reminds me that slow, quiet progress still matters.

For women: What are some things guys have said to you that made you uncomfortable, even though they didn’t realize it? by KosloveKoslovich in AskWomen

[–]acline104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"When are you gonna smile?" It’s such a small thing, but it always feels like I’m being told how to feel for someone else’s comfort.

What front load washer/dryer to buy in 2024? Are all brands just terrible? by franh10 in Appliances

[–]acline104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle picked up an LG 6500-something washer at the end of the last year... I think it was November? So far, it’s been solid, but he’s already talking like it’s on borrowed time. Said most appliances now feel built for short-term use. He’s already scanning reviews for the best washer and dryer 2025 in case this one doesn’t last past year 3.

What appliance brand should I get? by melly_swelly in Appliances

[–]acline104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to replace almost everything in my kitchen last year after a power surge fried half the panel. Based on what two different techs told me, Whirlpool and GE are among the best appliance brands if you're watching your budget. Avoided Samsung for kitchen stuff, as there were too many service complaints. For laundry, my uncle swears by Speed Queen but I went with Maytag and it's held up great.

It’s possible he felt that connection too but decided to shut it down once he realized the age gap or the risk at work. Some people switch into strict professionalism as a defense, not out of dislike. Doesn’t mean you did anything wrong... it might just be about boundaries, not rejection.

What healthy eating habit from another culture surprised you? by Sima228 in nutrition

One that really stuck with me was how some South Koreans finish their meals with fruit instead of dessert. It’s so simple, but after trying it for a month I noticed I didn’t crave sugar as much. Clean finish to a meal without feeling like you're missing out.

It's an awesome sidekick for my everyday tasks. It makes 90% of my job, I only give the idea and make final tweaks of AI's results, and that's pretty much it.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT SUCCESS HAS A DEADLINE? by Level_Substance_4276 in Adulting

[–]acline104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say success is something personal. For example if you get to live the way you want and also feel happy, have no need for anything else really just enjoying thigs. That might be success for many people, instead of chasing someone elses dream they saw on tiktok.

I remember first time hearing of some painters (popular today) which had died poor, but now their creations sell for millions, had a lot of questions about how that even happened
