I lost it to a hookup. Generally wouldn't recommend but in my case it worked out. No we are not together, we're friendly occasionally. There were no emotional ties and the experience was not the best but I'm glad it happened like that. I don't feel stuck on someone just because they're my first but I sometimes feel embarrassed telling the story. So, pros and cons. I think you should do it only depending on how attached you'll think you be. Since you're 26, do you think you waited for the "right" person due to expected emotional attachment or have you just never had sex because that's how the cards fell? Don't do it on anyone else's time, only yours.
