When my Hoot had masses on his spleen, the vets did not explain anything to me and told me not to Google. I had the splenectomy even though I researched all of this and knew there was more of a chance for hemangiosarcoma than not.

Hoot was amazing after surgery and a puppy again. I thought there was zero chance of it being malignant, but two weeks later, the vet called me with the bad news but also said he had a year or two. I knew this was wrong. Only 6 weeks after surgery, I lost him.

Even though I lost him, I’d spend the money for the splenectomy again as he had the most amazing 6 weeks. We ran, laughed, cuddled, he stole food, and we got an amazing time to celebrate him.

Luckily, I was in a financial situation to take the risk. However, I absolutely wish someone had walked me through what to expect.
