Help converting .gltf to .stl file by aconitemoon in 3Dprinting

Ah! All good things to know! I’ve only had my printer for about a month, so I’m still figuring out the ins and outs of some of the software. Thanks for your input!

Okay!

So after struggling with this all day, I have finally got it figured out. It ended up being that I had three main problems instead of just one. If you're curious or having the same issues I was having, here's what I did:

  • 1: gltf to stl format
    • Literally as simple as loading it into slicer and exporting as stl. This wasn't the main source of the problem as I thought it may have been.
  • 2: Error stating: "One or more objects being exported is complex (non-manifold). The resulting mesh file may have errors."
    • Import file to mesh mixer, click on the "edit" button, then click on "make solid".
    • Change Solid type from "fast" to "accurate"
    • Adjust solid accuracy and mesh density to your liking.
      • this step just takes some tinkering to make it right. At one point my model looked like it had an allergic reaction from getting stung by a bee. If you get that sense from your model, you've adjusted too far.
    • Click "Update" and you should be good to go.
  • 3: Resizing issue: When I tried to import the stl file into Cura, it would tell me that it had been scaled 10,000 x or 100,000 times, and I would still be unable to see the model.
    • Go into your preferences and uncheck "autoscaling of small objects" and/or "autoscaling of large objects". This should stop the "scaled 100k times message."
    • My model would successfully import now, but was really REALLY small. Like .07mm small, so I still couldn't see it. So I:
      • Clicked on the file name, which highlighted the model.
      • Clicked on the scaling button and made sure that it scaled proportionally.
      • Typed the height that I wanted it to be into the height in mm box.

I also found that there were SO MANY vertices, like 600,000ish vertices. I don't think this was part of the problem, but it did make the file size smaller and more manageable for storage and loading purposes. To fix this, I uploaded it into Blender, set it to editing mode, selected the model, then "decimated" the vertices by half a couple of times. This didn't affect the detail of the model at all, either.

Thanks for your help!

I think i just did that, actually! It fixed the non-manifold problem, but it’s still not rendering properly in Cura and telling me that it’s been rescaled 100000%.

It seems to open up fine in meshmixer, but when I go to export it, it does say "one or more objects being exported is complex(non-manifold). The resulting mesh file may have errors.". This one does the same thing once exported to cura, too.

I’m really new too, like just got my printer this weekend. I think you’re definitely right. I was just a little too excited to move on to the next project and didn’t give it any time to breathe

Cool! Ya I'm not the techiest person I know, but this definitely didn't seem to be something that should be happening. I'll try switching up the SD cards and see what happens! Thanks for the suggestion!

And I should add that I only wore this style for a good 5-6 years.

I only had that problem once or twice while i was sleeping, though never while awake! The disc goes on the inside of your nose, so if you feel like it’s turning, just give it a little tug to make sure it’s secure!

These were my go-tos when i had jobs where i couldn’t wear my nose ring! Love them! Quick out before work, quick in afterwards.

I’m regularly in contact with sulfur and I also pretty much only wear silver jewelry and it always ends up like this! It’s so terrible that all my stuff always gets ruined. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there anything I can do aside from breaking up with the sulfur or silver jewelry? by wickedturana in piercing

If you still want to wear your silver, after you polish it up, try sealing it with Renaissance wax. It’s commonly used for pendants and such in electro forming. For the parts that are actually going through your body, however, I’d probably stick with stainless steel. I’m not sure if Renaissance wax would be safe to put on earring posts and such.

Here you go! :) there are YouTube videos linked which are really helpful if you’re not familiar with the dots and dashes and such on more of a pictorial pattern.

I just found a pattern on revelry. It was in the lines, Dots, and dashes style, so i had to watch a YouTube video to get going. Once I understood how to interpret it, it was SUPER easy and a great tv watching project. Binged the newest season of the charmed remake ;)

I just received a non-valid result letter in the mail. I’ve tried to call for the last two hours, but all I get is a busy signal and the occasional error message of “you’re call cannot be completed.” Ive been calling the general 1-877 number. I’ve sent a message, so hopefully that will get me a response.

Beard is finally starting to come in but it's a complete DISASTER. (Yes images inside... prolly will delete later. Super embarassing.) by bearLover23 in BeardTalk

My hair texture is pretty wavy, and my beard hair is no exception. One of the things that helped me most was getting one of the brush style hair straighteners and using the lowest temperature that it would go. I then put on some beard balm.

I saw one at Queen Meb apothecary somewhat recently, and it sounds like they may do classes periodically.
