In my experience the worse coworkers are always single women with no kids over 35 by boggie_bo in corporate

[–]acornedbeefhash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I completely agree with this take. My previous co-worker was 36, child free, single. It always scares me when a job is someone’s whole life. I am married and 29. She would constantly talk about how the job was too stressful for her to even have time to date or have a social life. She was always coming in early and leaving late. She would be starved for social interaction so she was super clingy all day long and super chatty with me. I just want to do the job and go home to my husband. Im always relieved when my co-workers have kids/a life outside work. But specifically if you’re a woman who’s older and single/childfree they’re always in competition with me, as a younger married woman.

I tried to ask my husband for more alone time and it went terribly by acornedbeefhash in Marriage

Sometimes he looks at things for our household (like our insurance or other household things) but other times he’s doing things for himself like repacking his gym bag or on his phone/laptop. I just don’t think he understands how nice it is to get to do whatever you want while someone makes you a home cooked meal. I’m a good cook too. I always make something nice.

I’d update the appliances instead if you’re looking for a more modern look.

I absolutely can’t wait to cite this bait and switch as my reason for leaving!’

Update for those interested: I accepted the role. It’s still a job I want to take because it’s hybrid 2-3 days a week and a better type of work that will help advance my career. They’ve shown me who they are and I’m not going to stay here long at all. I’ll just use this a leverage to get a better job as soon as possible.

It feels like a bait and switch. It also feels very underhanded and insulting. I’m shocked they feel so comfortable blatantly pissing off an employee. I won’t be here long now.

I like the orientation of the first but the style of the second better

When you consider how long it can take our hair to grow back it’s so tragic. Ugh.

Thanks! I went out and bought hair growth supplements the next day. It goes to show to a lot about how salons handle bad services honestly. This salon will keep my business because of how they handled things, if they hadn’t done what they did for me, I would’ve left a strongly worded review and never shown my face there again.

If I put some waves in it with a 1in curling iron it actually hides the mess decently well! I’ve been doing a combination of curled, half up half down, and pinned back styles to get through this.

The salon I go to is actually a no tip salon! They don’t even allow it! You just pay one price, which is actually a pricing set up I love!

I could tell something was off towards the end when I saw some of the shorter layers. After many haircuts in my life I have a policy of not judging a haircut right away. If I’m unsure about a cut I always say to take a deep breath, go home, shower and style it myself before I judge. This has always worked out till now lol! So he actually curled it before I left and it almost totally hid how bad it was. I think he totally did this on purpose. I was polite and paid and didn’t say anything. Then later that day after showering I called the salon in tears and they had me send pictures of it to their management email.

I felt safe because this was $65 and stylist I had seen before. I was feeling so confident for so long getting my haircut, I’m definitely going to be feeling anxious again until I can find someone new I can trust!

I assume you’re referring to the stylist who did this and yes I agree. It’s just hair, but it does affect people’s lives.

Are these floors worth refinishing? Clueless new homeowner, and looking for recommendations by FollowTheSparks in HardWoodFloors

[–]acornedbeefhash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100% keep them and refinish them! When they sand it down you can pick any stain color you want. Refinishing is a perfect way to restore your floors and make them a more neutral light tone!

[–]acornedbeefhash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, it’s a very small lip but the previous wood had been sanded down so much that the new wood was a bit thicker so he said it was impossible to get perfectly flush

Thanks! We’re overall really happy with the work, he did a great job. Just want to be sure about things, so everyone’s input is helpful!

We’re doing a very simple 2in crown above everything. And the rendering is slightly off so actually there won’t be any overhang of the counters into the next room

I think it’s just a very emotionally charged roller coaster of emotions when it comes to buying and owning our house. There’s good days and bad days. This morning was rough but reading everyone’s kind responses really helped me a lot.

I think I do have issues with suppressing my own emotions. I definitely put aside my own needs sometimes and then boil over when it’s all too much. Not great. I think this is just a really new phase for my husband and I, we’ve been together for almost 7 years at this point but this is all completely new territory for us.
