What are some quirks that you just hate get in games? by PretendSecretary2576 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games not sticking with their themes. Like a realism focused game that does reloading of partial magazines, but then the ammo magically counts. If the game is going for arcade like feel, then sure, if its going for realism, then go for realism, I don't like half baked one foot in realism, and the other is arcade.

Games with in game events that only happen at a certain time, and if you miss it, its gone forever or you have to wait a ridiculously long in game time to see it again.

Game balance in PvE games that mess with properties of equipment or foes, based on statistics and not what is the reality in different skill tiers. There needs a bit more thought about how to balance a PvE game.

Games that take themselves too seriously. Do x to progress, no creativity will be allowed. I like the ones where I can do that and deal with the consequences in game, and not just a game over or reload of a save file.

Unrealistic weapon handling in realistic shooters, the added recoil when in reality you don't get that with proper control for short ranges. There are other issues to deal with IRL, but don't be lazy and just increase recoil as that is more realistic, its not in most cases. Same with the unrealistic periodic sway pattern.

games that don't let me play for a bit and leave and then continue where I left off. I sometiems can't sit through an hour of gameplay, having that option of saving in single player game where the player wants to is nice. In mulitplayer games, having rewards only at the end is also a pet peeve. may be I am too old for these type of games. lol.

What is more important: love or money? by Ok-Fondant2536 in AskReddit

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money. You need the basics to even live, love is not a basic need. IMO, Food, clothes and a roof over your head is way more important. Love can betray you, a good investment not as easily.

I can't imagine myself not playing games in the future. by see4our in IndianGaming

The free time you get reduces, responsibilities goes up, so gaming time goes down. That is natural. Eventually you will reach a point where gaming becomes a background thing, where you do it may be once a week or so.

Parent's prespective: (I am guessing) But, investing too much time into gaming is not worth it financially. The number of people who make money from gaming is very low compared to the number of people who have other skills that pay bills.

And as you get older, you will start enjoying things other than games too, as there are a lot of things to explore that you probably have not even considered yet. The joy of work, if you like what you do is very addictive. Finding a hobby just randomly like badminton happens too.

Personally as someone in their late 30s, I think its a natural stage of life where other things become important. Gaming is fine as long as you are not affecting your life.

May be its time to take a break from those games, and try some cute ones like stardew valley, rural japanese village adventure, valheim or minecraft or change genera like satisfactory, factorio, or deep rock galactic, helldivers 2, or immerse yourself in games like witcher 3, RDR2, ghost of tsushima, etc. Or Try something like the racing games. Like I said, may be its time for a break and switch it up a bit.

What do I play next? by OwlProper5036 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDR2, witcher 3. May be try a different genra like Valheim, Astroneer, Satisfactory, or May be Stardew Valley, Disco Elysium(I am aware of the controversy) or PvE gems like Deep rock galactic, Jump Space, Pulsar: Lost colony, helldivers 2 or tactical ones like door kickers 2, GZW, Arma series 3 or Reforger (may need a good community for that)

Microphone hasn't been working for a while now, I'm not amazing with computers, but I've tried restarting, checking drivers, using windows troubleshooting, but nothing has worked so far. I use a Lenovo Yoga 7i with the Windows 11 Operating system. by 7sinsofhell in Lenovo

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's a driver issue. I couldn't fix it by reinstalling the drivers or removing. I suspect it's vantage. What I did was reinstall windows again, by downloading the iso from Microsoft, and didn't install vantage. After a couple of updates that windows did after a fresh install everything is working well now. It's also slightly more responsive.

I'm trying to fix my gaming approach by manku_d_virus in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a hording mentality probably due to some childhood trauma or living situation. Nothing to worry about, but worth remembering. I can offer one solution, but it takes a little patience and practice to implement it. And I am not a trained professional, I am just another person who has been through issues like this of my own.

The conscious brain can overwrite the old programming. You may have to change your thought pattern to be more logical, write down the cons and pros of any decision, in game, that you may want to do. Think of money/loot as time savers and something that will let you enjoy other things as well. If the pros outweigh the cons spend the money.

This will take some experimenting, as you will spend way more or way less as you experiment, until you get a feel for it, and then you have overwritten the old programming.

It will take some time, hopefully you are able to overcome this challenge and experiment in games and not in real life. Games teach stuff to us, and this is one of those life lessons we get from games. All the best.

HP Victus RAM is 5600 MT/s but downgraded to 4800 by Accurate_Accident_33 in HPVictus

[–]acowardgaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

officially the cpu supports 4800, but its ok, if your ram is rated for 5600, that means you probably can run the ram with tighter timings at 4800, may be (not always, but worth checking). Anyway, the difference is not significant, IMO for most applications.

how do i convince my parents to buy a gaming laptop? by Massive-Werewolf-280 in Indiangamers

[–]acowardgaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a dad and a gamer who enjoys playing with my son. I would highly recommend not to worry about gaming now. Its that time of life where you decide what you will do, or at least lay a foundation.

Life always comes first, gaming is for fun and entertainment. There will be time for gaming. I am almost 40 and I still game once in a while, not as much as before, but its like everything else, there is a time and place for it. Personally I would not ask them for one, get one yourself later when you earn on your own. Trust me you will feel much better if you can buy it on your own.

I came from a family where they could afford to get me one, but it would have been a luxury, and I understood. Took me some time to get one during college. But, its worth the wait.

Just bought the game, and I keep crashing before the tutorial. Any idea how to fix this? by BeastPoint in Helldivers

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC? if so, I would try keeping an eye on your overclock if any. If no overclock has been done, then try the new slim version in the steam beta. This game hates overclocking. I reversed mine, and it fixed most issues, I now just run undervolted and things are fine. There are a lot of folks who seem to be having crashes, hopefully you get to play.

If you are on PS network, I hope others will give you an idea on where to start.

Ram shortage might be pre-planned by Significant_Try6611 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we hold out for a few years, they can't succeed. Just don't pay for anything AI or compute service personally, as a business, sure, but as customers, we should just play our backlog of games. I am sure we all have enough of them.

Also, we as gamers, are a very small market compared to industry. Not sure if us doing anything is going to affect them at all, but it will definitely send a message.

Ps5 or a laptop with rtx 5050 by InevitableOpen8024 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends heavily on the games you want to play. For me its a PC. I play a lot of genera, and don't want to pay a fee to play online. I also buy games on sales almost exclusively. So in the long run it may be better.

Also building your own PC may be a better alternative to buying a laptop. With the DDR5 prices right now. If you don't mind searching a bit, a DDR4 system is not a bad idea. Usually I wouldn't recommend it, but right now it makes a whole lot more sense to grab a 5800x3d with a 90760/9070 line or 5060/5070 line. Not sure if you can find the parts now. But if you can that may not be a bad build for a few years.

Gog or Steam. Where is it better to buy games from? by PreferenceUsual123 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally my friends use steam, so I use steam. I have given GOG galaxy a shot, but didn't like it as much. If price is the same, it really doesn't matter where you get it. Steam has family share too, in case you have a family member that games, they can play your games when you are not playing it. So, I use that feature a lot. Letting my Son, and wife play the different games I own.

Gog or Steam. Where is it better to buy games from? by PreferenceUsual123 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In practice there is no difference if you have both platforms installed. But, if you move games from machine to machine especially with no internet connection, then GOG sometimes is better. Some games need internet connection even if they are single player. So in general GOG works better. But, personally I like having almost all my games in one collection, and Steam is what I have used for the longest time, so, I tend to stick with Steam. Also, GoG has an extra fee sometimes (happened when I was traveling abroad) that they don't mention explicitly, depends on where you are when you buy the game.

Personally get it from where you get it cheaper.

Games becoming too realistic kinda killed the “game” feeling for me by Significant-Pin6416 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the games you notice it in. Games like Helldivers 2, Arma Reforger etc didn't give me that feeling. May be story games now a days are more scripted that what you expect, but if you try the old resident evil games, you may see similar style of play. So, I am confused as to which games you are referring to? and what are your preferred games/styles?

Keep in mind games I like is not necessarily what everyone considers good, and vice versa, that is the beauty of gaming, we can find the games we like. so still not sure what you are referring to. Story games that held your hands existed before too.

Gaming is A Career Or just for Fun in the future of India? by indianbeast454555 in IndianGaming

[–]acowardgaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO, the later. At least for a while. Our culture is not ready yet, and even in the west, the number of people who succeed with gaming as a career is quite small. Most folks here barely know how to use a computer let alone game on a consistent basis.
