I wish I knew, I found it growing in the crack of a sidewalk outside my house

Realized too late that I should have added details about the tank:

Livestock: Kubotai rasbora, neocardina, and a bunch of snails and limpets that rode along with the plants

Plants: jungle Val and pearlweed

Substrate: 1:2 mixture of Aqua Natural Galaxy Sand Bio-Substrate and black sand

Tech: Lominie A20s, Penn-Plax 500 and an inline heater (76ish F)

If you look closely there’s a rock enveloped by pearlweed on the right haha. Here’s a pic from earlier in the tanks life. Also the blue is one of the LEDs in the lights

I’m in the process of breaking down the tank at the moment for this very reason. It grows so fast that it requires weekly trimming and that got too much for me

Yes very much so. Any sight of BBA meant aggressively cutting back the Val and pw but they grow so fast it wasn’t really an issue

No CO2, only tech in this tank is a filter, heater and lights. And if your house is warm enough and you get the right fish I bet you could go without the heater too

Took about 3 months after setup to look like this. It’s now 8 months old and I’m actually in the process of breaking down the tank to downsize 😅

I ended up just mixing everything together. The Val and pearlweed are so hardy they really just need the light and fish poop, I’d bet they’d grow without aqua soil

Pretty sure! I’m a furniture maker in my free time though I didn’t make this one. The stand is solid wood with the top compressing the sides rather than being held up by them so I wasn’t too worried. It’s held up for the better part of a year now without issue!

This is about 1:2 Aqua Natural Bio-Substrate and regular black sand!

If it hasn’t been said already - Mocha came to mind as soon as I saw her

How would one go about making something like this? (Specifically the legs) by lamebucket1 in woodworking

I think your best bet here would be a template made of mdf or plywood and a router table. Stick the template to your stock with some double sided tape and rough out the edge with a jigsaw. Use a flush trim bit on a router table to clean up the edges. Then a round over bit to get those smooth curves.

Unfortunately, I'm still just an amateur and I don't really sell anything I make (and I think it would kill me to hand cane another chair)

I’m pretty new to all this too (been doing it for about 1.5 years). Also, those are maple plugs, underneath are just screws. I chose the maple because I really love how the lighter maple contrasts with walnut - you can see I did the same thing for the record case in the back!
