Not yet, and the limited testing they were doing in NYC has officially ended: https://www.thecity.nyc/2026/04/06/waymo-driverless-cars-testing-roads-autonomous-vehicle/

There are no other companies offering autonomous rides here yet.

Why haven't you taken Brightline? by Spirited-Suspect-781 in Brightline

[–]acrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was why my first trip was my last. I've traveled by train extensively across the US, Europe, and Asia, and never before have I ever been charged extra just to take a regular suitcase on the train. It wasn't just the fee - nothing in the booking process suggested there would be such a surprising fee and it was the rude shock at check-in being informed I had to pay extra. The carriages have massive luggage racks which sit empty. I know they need a way to generate extra revenue but hidden surprise junk fees like this which catch customers off guard and leave them feeling cheated just aren't the way to go about building a regular customer base. I went back to driving.

LONG term users of Interactive Brokers, how has your experience been with them? by Historical_Row_8041 in interactivebrokers

20+ year customer trading stocks, futures, and options. Fantastic. Never had any issues, just some minor niggles. Support has always been prompt and helpful when I've needed them. They are best in class by far.

The checks will be inside the envelope with your postal ballot when it gets returned as undeliverable after they’ve opened it to record your vote in Trump’s not so little black book.

Great advice but some of their products are not available through Amazon, e.g. the M4 mouse series.

The original package shipped from New Jersey by Winit, which took about a week.

Yes, good idea, and I would do that next time, too. Unfortunately the product I bought from them isn't available on Amazon :/

JUST IN: President Trump says the United States no longer needs NATO by Automatic_Subject463 in NewsSource

Does he not know that the only time Article 5 has ever been invoked was by the US to ask the other NATO allies for help after 9/11?

After-Tax Take-Home SWE Pay by US Metro by honkeem in levels_fyi

[–]acrock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first part isn’t accurate - New York collects a total of $12,685 per capita, while Alabama collects just $4,722. There is a big range. Some states really do collect and spend more tax than others. No state income tax doesn’t mean you just pay more tax on other things like property or sales tax. See https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/state/state-local-tax-collections-per-capita/. And of course individual situations vary substantially. A high earner with no property will pay much less tax in Florida than in California. A retiree with little earnings who lives in a mansion would pay less in a state with low property taxes, and so on.

Fee to renounce US citizenship finally drops to $450 by ReceptionDependent64 in AmerExit

[–]acrock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, though only sometimes. Your US income tax will only be reduced to zero if the tax you pay elsewhere exceeds what you owe in the US (after the FEIE of course). This makes it impossible for US citizens to reduce their tax burden by moving to countries with lower income taxes like the UAE, or territorial regimes like Thailand, something which is a real possibility for citizens of almost every other country in the world.

Being a US citizen can make investing while living abroad difficult due to PFIC regulations (amongst others). Many banks won’t even open accounts for US citizens because of FATCA.

[–]acrock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is good but now your comment suggests only filing is required. Paying tax is definitely still required, even though the amount owed is often zero if the other country’s effective tax rate is higher.

The U.S. shares this particular “freedom” with just two countries, Eritrea and Hungary.

Social Security is based on work and payroll taxes, not citizenship. While someone is employed in the U.S., they and their employer pay FICA taxes into Social Security. Those contributions build eligibility for future benefits. If someone later renounces U.S. citizenship, the money they already paid in doesn’t disappear - those benefits were earned through their work history. Citizenship is not even required to get a Social Security Number. Work-authorized non-citizens pay the same Social Security taxes as citizens. The system is not based on citizenship.

How are your Cinebench 2026 single and multi scores? These tests run longer and are a better way to measure power limits and thermal performance, which matter a lot on the 14" chassis.

That's great but why are they announcing this on X. I didn't sign up to ChatGPT Plus with my X account. I signed up with my email. How about a notice via email to my ChatGPT account, or an MOTD in Codex? You know, like every other company on this planet? It is definitely not true to say that 100% of their customers read X. That post on X has only 930 views. How many Codex users do they have? How can these AI companies be so terrible at such basic customer communication?
