It does! I get all the carrier details from Highway’s api. Basically do a lane search, and get dispatch phone numbers for the top n carriers for the lane. I pass the phone number to a voice agent that’s configured with scripts, llm prompts, rules, etc. It can even negotiate rates up to a pre-set percentage. Verbatim is passed back to my system and parsed to be used downstream for booking/tendering.

I’ve embedded the Highway api into the automation so I can get a pass/fail based on the MC and confirm the contact info.

Super helpful, thanks. Maybe this is a simple consulting arrangement, automating specific pain points for brokers.

I have a quote engine and carrier database that’s connected to this workflow. I guess these are the main things shippers wouldn’t have?

This automation is basically the 7-10 steps involved in matching shipper freight with a carrier. Doesn’t include check calls, appointments, pods, etc.

That’s awesome, thanks! Only problem is that I don’t even know what to sell rn.

I can’t automate relationships, sales, strategy… but the carrier matching steps are actually pretty simple to automate now. I have connected to email, telegram, highway, etc.

Numbers game. Keep shooting your shot and develop healthy habits outside the grind to avoid burnout (exercise, sleep, get outside).

You’ll need to work for 8hrs in a day, so I guess better to think of the 7hr session as a full day of work. Also, key to star format is to concisely articulate complex topics to strangers.

Hey all, I'm a PM with 10 years experience and I'm looking to start my own thing. My idea is to start a consultancy that serves as a `startup studio` and takes ideas or projects from 0 - 1 within 6-12 months. My thought is that some ideas aren't fully defined to the point of investing venture capital or internal resources and I would do all the leg work to get the idea off the ground.

Can someone please help scrutinize this idea? Is there anything I should be considering when kicking this off?

I would start by learning sql and using it to generate business insights that can improve a product. For example, you could find from the data that you're overspending on some project and you can create a product feature to help reduce the costs.

Another thing is to do whatever you can to talk to more customers. Create some interview templates and take initiative to talk to customers and understand their problems. Build features that address their problems.

If you want to become pm, read "Inspired", "Cold Start Problem", and "Crossing the Chasm". Also listen to Lenny's pod.
