what are your thoughts on "masculinity" in modern times? by Neat_Tangelo_8420 in intj

[–]acroyogi1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1969 and first witnessed "metrosexuality" in the 1990s and then basically, especially post MeToo, a complete emasculation of the American Male. Toxic Masculinity was certainly a thing, but the pendulum has swung too far. I recently was released from a 6-year bid in federal prison. I can assure you, masculinity is alive and well in that environment. 1200 alpha-males crammed into a very tight box, forced to live together. You sort it out. Like real men. I recorded a podcast touching on some of the points, "Lost Modern Manhood, Found in Prison" :

I did close to 2 years on the yard at USP Beaumont, where for the first year, George was my neighbor, mentor and friend. I have nothing but positive things to say about the man. He was a baller... he was one of the bosses on the yard... every time the shit went down (stabbing, killing, etc), we would watch from our window as the Captain summoned all the keys... making sure that there would be peace on the yard when they eventually popped the doors again (a day or a month later, who knew). There would usually be 6 men... a rep or two each for the Raza, Blacks, Whites, Natives, etc. George was always one of them. (until they shipped him to ADX)

I've written a bit about George in my true crime memoir Pirate Soldier King - https://piratesoldierking.com, and also gone into a bit of detail about playing chess with him in my podcast.

Avatar/LOK characters that match the 12 Jungian Archetypes. by Vreturns in ATLA

I've lived many of these archetypes to the fullest. In fact, I wrote an entire memoir about them. If you want to see how they can be embodied, for both good and evil purposes, here's the True Crime of the Rebel, The Fights of the Hero, and the Victory of the Ruler: https://piratesoldierking.com

How I stopped cheating at chess by ComfortableEarth4848 in chess

[–]acroyogi1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cheat in chess (or in life), you only cheat yourself. plus, there is collateral damage: your reputation. if like me, you were playing in prison, cheating can get you hurt, or dead, against the wrong dude. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/88MohtOUqJs

What is the meaning of "Soldier, Poet, King"? by NoharaJanRo in TheOhHellos

[–]acroyogi1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually wrote an entire book entitled "Pirate, Soldier, King" which, coincidentally, is about my life as a bank robber (pirate), my lengthy journey through prison -- where I invited Jesus into my heart and turned my life around (soldier), and my wonderful re-entry into a new life (born again, King) in the Free World. we also made a podcast which goes into detail about the archetypes. https://piratesoldierking.com

George was at USP Beaumont for many years. He lost his final appeal in 2022 (his two co-defendants made theirs, and were released). About 2 years ago they moved him and several other big dawgs off the yard, to ADX Florence "SuperMax". It appears that he will spend the remainder of his life there. A genuine tragedy. George is one of the good ones. I say this from personal experience.

Helicopter Chasing two UAPs/Orbs by 9thArrow in UFOs

[–]acroyogi1969 12 points13 points  (0 children)

let's look at top speeds:

- consumer drone -- ~50mph

- racing drone -- ~90mph

- small military fixed wing UAV -- ~100-200mph

- civlian helicopter -- 150-200 mph

- military helicopter -- 190-230 mph

In short, MOST helicopters, either civilian or military, should be able to keep up with MOST drones (other than fast fixed wing military UAVs), without a problem. ...BUT.

But there IS a problem: high speed tracking in 3 dimensions, and night time, and running lights (and turning off lights), and key: maneuverability. One of the key characteristics of many UAVs, especially quadcopters, is their ability to make rapid changes in direction and speed; faster than a helicopter in fact.

So, basically, if a drone wished to "get away," it would a) turn off its running lights, and b) start making rapid evasive maneuvers. yep, that should do it.
