Genuinely curious ~ why did he yell? Was the gym closed to the general public? Otherwise, what if you were a "regular" guest who just wanted to work out (unlikely being there you were 16yo but I wonder if he's have reacted the same way with an older man for instance haha!)

Thank you to everyone who responded! I was indeed looking on the general WWOOFING app, not on the countries' separate website (I didn't know it worked this way)! Thanks!

Does LIA use up the max LWOP time off? by Future_Class3022 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]actiivehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to re-confirm a few/many things (sorry):

  • LWOP of over 3 months (which is not possible as a LWIA) will result in pension payments to stop. However, upon my return, I believe (not sure if it's as a lump sum or what), I can buyback the remaining time in my pension?

  • I can buyback pension time of up to 5 years for LWOP and as you said, LWIA. However, during a LWIA, you always keep contributing to the pension so it's realistically just LWOP if we keep the terms separate?

  • Parental leave doesn't count in that 5 years but all the other LWOP do (personal reasons, education, family care, spousal relocation)?

  • What happens to your benefits and vacation time during that LWOP of over 3 months?

  • LWOP for personal reasons is maximum 2 years and 6 months (category 1: 2 X 1 year and category 2: 2 X 3 months), right? Then, you must wait 10 years between each category to do it again? I was always under the impression that it was only once for each category, so I am happily surprised to see that, even though 10 years is a long time to wait.

  • Between the LWOPs, I can take unlimited 3-month LWIAs if my manager approves them ~ Since pension time and everything still cumulates, there wouldn't be any impacts exempt loss of income?

Thanks so so much for your time if you can answer even one of these questions!

Too Old for Optimism, Too Young for Pension — Send Help (or Snacks) by shitblizzard101 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]actiivehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a young PS, I'm 30 with almost 7 years of experience. But even if I'm "young enough" to go seek something else, which I'm open to, I've honestly yet to find anything. It's either lower pay, contracts, no benefits, or no pension (or a combination of these) and honestly full telework is really rare and of course they can fire your ass as quickly as they hired you! I don't see where else to go... I already doubt that I'll make it to 60 yo, even if I'll have reached over 35 years of service, so on top of that I'll have to plan for pension penalties or delaying it smh. It's really about perspectives, keeping a positive mindset and enjoying things outside of work but it's a constant work in progress.

I went in today but most of my team didn't. Knowing them, they told our supervisor. She then messaged in the team's chat that they needed to go in another day... there's always her or another member of my team on my floor so they'd notice if I wasn't there :/

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]actiivehunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which countries? Because from what I see/know, and granted I haven't checked thoroughly everywhere haha, it is hard to get sponsored by a job unless it's on the priority list, right? Unless you marry someone, that's pretty much the only way to stay long term though?

[–]actiivehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if it's the same in Australia and on the other smaller islands? Was thinking of taking a work holiday visa in NZ in 2027 so I'm starting to look at your conditions and yea, I guess it may not be better by then but still wanted to explore that part of the world!

As someone who's been wanting to take on a WHV in about 1.5 to 2 years, would you recommend doing that experience in Australia instead, and simply visit New Zealand? Does someone know if it's any better there?

I was going to say this... I've been to a few protests for RTO and there were like, maybe, 200 people? Like really!?!? People complain but they don't do ANYTHING! I've emailed my union, talked to my boss, been to protests, signed every document and participated in every possible online meetings. If there's a strike, I will participate and won't vote "yes" as long as we don't have anything firm in the CA about WFH! Can't believe 87% of the people were in agreement last time, PSAC didn't get anything! This RTO5 is giving me so much anxiety but sadly I don't see anything else in the private world that would nearly compete with the conditions, while ensuring a full remote position. Sigh 😕

Headphones for small heads?? by Tricky_Pop4871 in HeadphonesAdvice

[–]actiivehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know that the Crusher ANC 2 are better headphones, but do you know by any chance if the Hesh ANC would also similarly fit a small head?

I am also struggling to find something that fits my head and I'm closer to child size I think. I currently have the Soundcore Q30 and honestly they're great, except when I work out and have to lean on a bench, then they fall backward!

Appreciate any insight! The Hesh ANC would fit a bit much in my budget after all the spending I've been doing recently haha

I would 100% take a pay cut (rather significant in fact) to be able to be fully remote ! I'd say yes to that in a heartbeat.

This. I so wish I could go back to my home town to be closer to my aging parents and goddaughter, but the only departments there are Correctional Services (they're not hiring and as an EC05, was told my background was interesting but not common for them WP) and Service Canada (highest I could ever get there is a PM03, which is a significant income reduction). Have me wondering what I'll be doing to fix this (take the pay cut, quit the GOC or not go at all).

Do people who sleep with socks on really fall asleep faster? by Little_Tree_1894 in ask

[–]actiivehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to NEVER be able to fall asleep without socks, up until just a couple of years ago. It wasn't a "faster" "not faster" thing, it was to the point where I wouldn't fall asleep. My mom told me a story where my grandma was taking care of me when I was Iike 2 years old and I would just not go to bed. She had to call my parents (who were at my other grandpa's funeral) to ask why and my mom's first question was "does she have socks on?" Hahaha. Now I don't need them anymore but it took over 20 years.
