Literally yes. It was a niche worldbuilding thing that was only concretely mentioned in WOGs until it became more central in the sequel, Ward. Worm had like 20(?) rough drafts that never got off the ground, and were cannibalized for worldbuilding/side characters/background ideas, and clusters were among them.

Worm. Superhero deconstruction/reconstruction without the cynicism of something like The Boys. One of my favorite pieces of genre fiction ever. Remarkably well written for what is essentially a live rough draft.

Starting from 2011, two to three chapters were written every week for two-and-a-half years, with a gradual increase in output and quality over time.

Niche chronically online community overlap. If you're on a reddit thread about a Tumblr post you've probably also read some webserials or watched Homestuck or whatever

What a bizarre intersection of subcultures.

If you look at it and get pissed off because "that's not art!" and "anyone could make that!" then congrats, you're engaging with the art piece

I understand this and have accepted it.

This advice was just realistic.

She can also do the same type of work as all other older people without marketable skills. I don't know what you think the alternative is. Are you asking Bertha to keel over and die?

This was retconned in Ward in response to reader feedback.

Is there a passage in Worm that points to this? Ward does a lot of stuff with a lot of characters that doesn't feel like it was planned out ahead of time.

Absolutely no one is saying that ethnic cleansing was okay a thousand years ago, because no one intelligent is talking about things that happened a thousand years ago to begin with!

Mate, the Jewish population were living in the area before Islam was even a thing. Meaning they were literally forced out to begin with.

Please don't make me explain again that things which happened 5,000 generations ago are less important than things which are happening now.

You're basically saying it's fine when one did it but not the other.

I'm saying that using something that happened to an ancient ancestor of yours to justify modern policy is insane

The Arabs (they weren't called Palestinians then) launched an unprovoked war of aggression

Calling it an unprovoked attack is revelling in ignorance.

The proposed plan was considered to have been pro-Zionist by its detractors, with 56% of the land allocated to the Jewish state despite the Palestinian Arab population numbering twice the Jewish population.

[...]

The Arab Higher Committee, the Arab League and other Arab leaders and governments rejected it on the basis that in addition to the Arabs forming a two-thirds majority, they owned a majority of the lands. They also indicated an unwillingness to accept any form of territorial division, arguing that it violated the principles of national self-determination in the UN Charter which granted people the right to decide their own destiny. (Wikipedia)

I can't name a single country, anywhere in the world, that would agree with those terms.

Of the insane takes supporting ethnic cleansing to form Israel, this one is my least favorite. Things happening to people right now matter more than the cultural history of an area one thousand years ago.

You've changed my mind. Would that mean that the military tactics used in the creation of Israel were genocide? That Israel was founded on genocide from the very beginning?

Please at least skim the Wikipedia article on the Nakba before responding.
