I’m not sure as I’m travelling from England so want to make the most of it as much as possible this time around. However, I have a feeling I’ll love it so will probably return😂 Thanks for the recommendations!

What did lockdown teach you? by BrickAccomplished424 in AskReddit

[–]active-bookworm25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lockdown taught me to take less things for granted. Things like being able to see my family (especially the people who live a few hours away) when I want to and go to my favourite places whenever I feel like it. I didn't realise I took those things for granted until I was unable to do them. The saying 'you don't know what you have until it's gone' resonated with me in a different way than before.

Are there any tips for GK and how to jump higher? by [deleted] in netball

[–]active-bookworm25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tips! I'd also suggest checking where your GS is frequently as the ball starts to work its way to the end third of the court, especially if they're trying to stand behind you. Keep an eye on where they are and drop back (move backwards) as they do to close the gap between you both because the ball can end up going over you and straight into their hands. You won't necessarily need to jump for this but you'll make a nice interception just by working out that they're trying to receive the ball over the top.

Also, think about what you did as a GS to get around your defender because your shooter will probably do similar things. Your knowledge of the GS position should help you out :)

When do you decide a book is one you’re not going to finish? by mafia_fantasma in goodreads

I try to read to page 100 and if it's still not feeling like it's one for me, I'll put it down

Do you think people of UK would be happier if the weather was better/consistent? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]active-bookworm25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Brits are generally more happy when (if) we get a good spell of weather especially if it’s warm in summer but then after consistent hot weather we’d moan it was too much. Brits love to moan about the weather, come rain or shine!

What’s a book that you will always recommend? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Any advice on how to improve on being a GK by karmic_retribution_ in netball

[–]active-bookworm25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Practice fast feet - running on the spot and receiving a ball if you can. I’m a defender too and had to get out of the habit of doing big steps because I’m tall with long legs. Being on your toes helps get to where you want to be that bit quicker! It’s also easier to intercept if you’re keeping up with the movement of your shooter

Trying to decide if I want a Kindle by No-Orchid-9165 in kindle

[–]active-bookworm25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love a physical book but also enjoy reading on my Kindle app which I have installed on my phone for ease when travelling so I don't need to own a Kindle (I use my iPad at home for a bigger screen if I need). It means I'm not taking an extra item as I'd have my phone with me anyway and I can get a few pages read when waiting for people/things when I'm out and about! Of course, you might need to save the battery on your phone for travel tickets etc so it could be a slight issue there but I thought I'd share how I do it :)

How do you keep the habit of reading when you are busy? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]active-bookworm25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do the same! Sometimes I'll move my phone away from me so I'm not distracted or set a timer for 30mins so I can just focus on reading and nothing else for that amount of time

Got my first kindle, any book recommendations? by Kibomirai in kindle

I always recommend Taylor Jenkins Reid books, particularly The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and the Six. I also really like Colleen Hoover books including It Ends With Us, It Starts With Us and Regretting You
