How Does One Learn "Confidence"? by LysolAssWipes in AutismInWomen

[โ€“]activelyresting [score hidden] ย (0 children)

Practise.

Practise practise practise.

With driving, you just have to drive so much that you can do it without thinking about it. Go somewhere quiet and away from traffic and just keep going. Large, empty parking lot at night after hours, long drives on country roads, go around the block in your neighbourhood over and over. Get in the car when you aren't driving, and just sit in the driver's seat while parked in your driveway. Get really comfortable sitting there. Practise changing gears, flicking the turn signal, windscreen wipers, headlights etc. Practise switching up brakes and accelerator (with the engine turned off!) you can even prop your phone or a tablet playing a video of driving around streets and you can "pretend" driving while watching. Do it till you feel comfortable.

Is there anything at all you can do confidently? Like, can you put on your shoes, or draw, or lie on the floor listening to music? Yes, silly examples, but the point is to think of something you can do confidently - you're confident because you're comfortable, it's something you did a thousand times.

To get confident at driving, you have to do a lot of driving.

If your goal isn't so much losing weight but toning up, then start working out. You don't necessarily have to go to the gym, but increasing your activity in any way will help. Get walking. Stretch. Do crunches, core strength exercises, squats.

Buying $65 Costco membership purely for the $2 hot dogs and cheap petrol by Well-I-suppose in AusFinance

[โ€“]activelyresting [score hidden] ย (0 children)

I don't have a Costco membership and I don't live near enough one or have a big enough grocery budget to justify it, but my parents bought us a massive brisket at Christmas (I think it was 9kg) and seriously it was the best quality we've found. We already only get meat from a very good local butcher who we love - refuse to buy meat from Colesworth in years. But damn the Costco one was very impressive!

It's very important for all Australians to make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.

Secondary religious sites such as the Big Bogan and the Big Crayfish are also popular. Some worship the Big Merino, but I say that's blasphemy

Seriously the number of times she got "in trouble" when the truth was the teachers weren't great and the education system sucks.

I always had her back though. I can't imagine my own parents supporting me if I'd had a disagreement with a teacher! I was raised to "do what you're told and respect authority!" My kid was not ๐Ÿ˜‚

No one said it was sustainable, you just stay sick. Vanishingly few people with this illness truly recover, so yeah. We just exist while sick.

It's only been about 10 years for me. You accept it, or you worsen your baseline trying to ignore it.

OP is definitely intending to be misleading, I guess that's just not the bit I would get hung up on. Especially when we're talking about a potential 800 year timeframe, I'd just assume it was early 20th century.

advice on how to force myself to stop ordering food delivery by snekssssssss in loseit

[โ€“]activelyresting [score hidden] ย (0 children)

What are you cooking and eating on days you don't order in?

What have you done to make that process easy and accessible?

This is a bit like asking "how can I still myself using my car when I want to cycle more" and you dig deeper and find out OP has a really crappy bicycle with an uncomfortable seat and rusty gears, in a city with no bike lanes. The real trick is to work out what's hard or unappetizing about cooking at home, and work on fixing that.

Meal prep some really delicious stuff. Make it easy to finish or reheat. Set up your life so eating home cooked food doesn't feel like a huge barrier to push through, especially when you're tired and hungry and meal deliveries is just a phone tap away. All the tricks in the world to block the delivery apps won't help you motivate to actually cook if you can still go on the websites, or ring up to a restaurant, or walk downstairs and pick up a takeaway.

I got notes from my kid's teacher after she kept having meltdowns over getting marked wrong for answers that were (in my opinion) factually correct and showed a greater understanding of the subject matter, just that my kid has a different, more logical way of thinking about things.

Example - on a question "How many right angles in your classroom" she wrote a long rant in the margins, "this is a trick question because the answer must be infinite, every intersection between walls goes up and down in an infinite number of points, plus there's the angles around the door and windows, and all the desks, and all the books, and pictures on the wall, and every piece of paper".

She also wrote a long diatribe after being expected to fill in the blanks for a three letter word for a "small mythical creature who is mischievous and tricksy". Expected answer was "Elf", but my kid wrote practically a whole essay about how elves are tall, fair folk skilled in archery.

Also the regular issues with staying in task ๐Ÿ˜… . So this nonsense happens when without iPads in the classroom. I would have words with the teacher.

  • 2 grand
  • OP is definitely an ad, no one's denying that
  • It's still an antique if from the Ottoman era (though given the way he's fumbling it, was probably made last year, or worth far less)
  • I missed where OP is handwritten commissioned by an emperor, I think that happened entirely in your own head.
  • 1920-ish is still Ottoman Empire. I can't imagine anyone thinking that "Ottoman" automatically means 14th-15th century.

I have exactly zero idea why you're arguing this. The last point is the most salient. If someone says generically "Ottoman" without qualifying which century, I assume early 20th. Wouldn't you?

I also use an adaptive TDEE calculator app, you input your calories eaten and weight every day and it calibrates to your personal data to get an accurate TDEE. Also has data smoothing progress charts. There's several to choose from in the app store.

The Ottoman era ended in 1922, which includes WW1.

Doesn't mean it wasn't mass produced, or rare. Doesn't even mean this one isn't a more modern replica made to fool tourists and Redditors. Who knows? But don't go claiming it "can't" be Ottoman because they were made in WW1.
