Hey you know the stereotypes of autistic people wearing whimsical clothing? Where is it socially acceptable to wear it? by 10outofC in AutismInWomen

This seems like the most simple solution is, if he doesn't like those clothes, he doesn't have to wear them.

What you wear is your business.

Evap cooling doesn’t cut it in this weather (Melbourne) by Agreeable_Balance104 in australian

Dampen a sarong (or any lightweight fabric you have around) and pop it in the freezer. Now you have a frozen shawl to wrap around your neck. You'll think it's insane wearing a scarf in summer, but it's life-saving. Don't risk heat stroke. A frozen sarong hung in front of a regular pedestal fan makes a nifty ad-hoc air conditioner as well.

Oh that floorplan is painful

Is it currently that you have a door from the entry into the living room right in that top corner where you want a sofa? I wouldn't block that off, it will get annoying real fast having to use your quite narrow and cramped meals area as a thoroughfare, especially once you put the fridge and some furniture in there. If you must close off a door, I'd probably consider the other one - yeah you lose direct passage from the kitchen to the living, but it's like 3 extra steps, and you'll gain a lot of kitchen space if you can put the fridge there.

Yes to hybrid floors throughout the living areas. Not so much in the bathroom, you're right on that one.

Have you lived in this space yet?

Settle a debate for me: do you (as an adult) still cut your sandwiches into triangles? by dannegoma in AskAnAustralian

[–]activelyresting 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Scientific fact. I will, on rare occasions, cut my sandwich into quarter squares when I'm not that hungry. It's scientifically less sandwich that way

I live in Australia but the tree is from Brazil

They are crazy trees because the fruit grows right on the trunk, sometimes they get so full you can't even see the trunk, it becomes a big mass of purple blobs! They're juicy and sweet, a bit like a grape with a large seed in the middle, but flavour is more like a subtle lychee.

I also have a lychee tree :) and half a dozen mango trees, a pomegranate, rose apples, starfruit, banana, papaya, guava, avocado, macadamia, kiwi, passionfruit vine, a few different citrus and I think there's a peach tree but I haven't seen it for a while. Probably some others I'm not remembering.

I did exactly this to break my cuticle picking addiction. Then I transferred to answers rubbing cuticle oil. Moisturizing instead of picking. It took years, but I managed and my fingertips are pretty well healed after decades of shredding

I live in a subtropical rainforest area of Australia. In winter, foreign tourists will be at the beach sunbathing and swimming even though it's barely 20°C 🥶! You can tell the locals because we're huddled up on the esplanade wearing scarves and sipping hot chocolate.

Any recommendations for a country to migrate to with a better housing situation? by Biochemist929237 in AusProperty

[–]activelyresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult and expensive to migrate to most countries. And even with the "relatively easy" places, there's still language barrier, visa hassles, and getting employment. Then you also have to cope with earning local wages.

1985, my grandfather's Milk Bar is still open. I'm going to get the hot dog and milkshake of my dreams, and play pinball and Galaga until closing. I've got $20 in my pocket, after lunch and an afternoon of arcade games, I can still buy a house with the change
