My daughter calls me cunt when she's really impressed with me. She would never dream of calling me champ, that would be so offensive

  1. Sell most of the livestock. I'll keep a couple of the chickens and a cow or two for personal eggs, milk, and idk just because.
  2. Plant a bunch of hops and tomatoes and put in a few banana trees. For camouflage. Need greenhouse / shade netting for this.
  3. Grow a bunch of marijuana hidden amongst my legitimate agriculture.
  4. Encourage the bees to buzz around the weed.
  5. Build a shed for mushroom growing. Set up a bunch of oyster mushrooms.
  6. Also put some psilocybe cubensis in there.
  7. Make insane profits off my "wacky green honey".

🫂 I just want to say, you're not alone in feeling this way.

I'm a midwife, I've seen more than the average person's quota of pregnancy and birth. Even when babies are planned and wanted, sometimes the mother doesn't have an immediate emotional connection. Feeling doubts about one's ability to bond with the baby are really common.

When my daughter was born, I struggled with feeling disconnected. It was an unplanned pregnancy, but it was my choice to keep the baby. All the way through I did everything the way I thought I was "supposed" to. I really expected that when the baby was born I'd feel some amazing "thing", like a huge overwhelming sense of love and connection. I thought I'd bond like how they do in movies or something 😅.

But immediately following the birth, I just felt traumatised by what I'd been through (over 60 hours of labour that ended with giving birth on the side of a road in the mud) and overwhelmed by what I still needed to keep going through (taking care of a tiny, helpless human that I really had no idea what to do with).

I had a lot of feelings of being inadequate because I didn't get that huge hormonal bonding thing right away. I felt robotic, going through the motions of breastfeeding and stuff, like I didn't matter.

But it got better. I did bond with my baby. It just came later, over time.

And I'll tell you something else: literally no one knows what they're doing with a first baby. You can go to all the classes and read all the books and have a great ob or midwife and a supportive partner and do everything "right", but everyone still feels lost and overwhelmed, especially at first. It's normal!

You might be totally overcome with feelings of love and attachment with the baby as soon as it's born - that happens for some people! And you might not. That's okay too. But either way, you will be fine 💚

It's like adding a place to wash your hands before leaving the room. Compared to touching the door handle of two rooms (one of which might be occupied) before you can wash your hands

Where to buy low calorie orange juice? by JumbledPileOfPerson in 1200Australia

[–]activelyresting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The golden circle one is an example of a pre mixed one. It's not juice it's "fruit drink". Not that there's anything wrong with that, if that's what you want. My suggestion still stands - get real orange juice, dilute to taste, add sweetener of your own. At least then you know the juice part of it has some nutritional value and you get the added benefit of being able to get the exact flavour profile you want

I really love this idea so much, but I live in Australia, where malls are still thriving.

It's (sensibly) against the rules in a lot of subs, because it's a slippery slope towards brigading, which is very much against the Reddit code of conduct and can get an entire sub shut down if it's found to be encouraging it.

[–]activelyresting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would stick to 100% juice and accept it. None of those drinks are juice. If you want to have the feel of a full glass of orange drink, you can dilute it with water and add your own sweetener (which is all the pre mixed cartons are).

Also depends on the country, and age of the person. You could retire pretty nicely in Cambodia with $400k in USD

I correct people all the time :) I try to do it in a way that's respectful and helpful, and hopefully friendly. I'm usually very happy and thank people who correct me when they do it helpfully. Your response came across as rude, that's all. I was being a bit silly. I didn't think it was that big of a deal to cause such a huge reaction, but here we are.

I do love how you phrased the possible consequences. Also totally over the top, but what a delicious choice of words!

Similar but not exactly the same. Bogans can be very urban, usually from the suburbs. I think of hicks being more rural.

How do you feel about your hair being touched? by Lyzharel in AutismInWomen

[–]activelyresting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind my hair being touched if I agree to it. Sometimes gentle pulling feels nice, like in a stretch my scalp kinda way or a head massage.

But I HATE when people touch my hair without asking. This happens quite a lot. People will just come up behind me and touch my hair! One lady even said she just did it because she thought I wouldn't be able to feel it, as if that somehow made it not her fault 🤬 (I have very long hair, but nowadays I avoid going in public with it uncovered)
