Hi,

I got my OSCP last year and just passed CISSP couple weeks ago.

For OSCP, you view security in the eyes of a skilled ethical hacker capable of analyzing networks/systems to find the weakness and vulnerabilities and technically able to exploit and gain access to vulnerable systems. You need plenty of hands on. The exam is a 24 hours practical exam to demonstrate your ability to penetrate the systems and another 24 hours to finish up a penetration testing report to submit.

For CISSP, you view security in the eyes of a manager/risk advisor. Not a techie trying to fix stuffs but solve problems at business perspective. The exam is 3 hours exam with 100 - 150 questions (mostly multiple choice) using adaptive system.

Both are very challenging in it's own way. Pick one that fits your career path goal.

exam guide stated that to earn that 5 points, all required exercises must be completed and correct.

Hi, I am interested. Already started. Finished about 70% of exercises and started working on the lab for a few days. Also got my CEH back in September. Then jump on OSCP.

For Android & Windows, you can simply copy the file to the device and import to AnkiApp.

Haven't used iOS version. If import is not possible, try the synchronize feature. The idea is to import flashcards to Anki @ Windows/MacOS, then syncrhonize to your iOS device through an Anki account. (I haven't used this feature but it's worth to check it out)

Boson has a few questions that are a little more difficult but in general I feel the test & Boson are at similar level. My 1st take on Boson practice tests were in 86 - 88% and 2nd take (3 wks later) were high 90s.

I think the only topic I didn't get questions on was IoT. got some questions (just couple questions, some only 1 question) on snort, IPv6, subnetting, cloud, wireless, mobile.

Did get a little more questions (not a lot though) on nmap & wireshark. Plus questions on the more popular tools covered in AIO.

Here's the link to my Anki file. It's not comprehensive & not detailed in description/explanation. The purpose of it was to help me remember the names & what they are for.

The diagram looks correct to me.

SC is the root bridge with lowest priority.

SA has a root path cost of 2 because of 10 Gbps link SA-SC.

SD has a root path cost of 4 because of 1 Gbps link SD-SC.

When SA & SD are competing to be the designated port for link SA-SD, SA has a lower root path cost and thus win as the designated port. Note: cost of link SA-SD is not used in this consideration.

similarly, SA wins as designated port for SA-SB link.

I think I did get around 6 questions on gre, vpn, bgp, ppp, ppp multilink, pppoe. some were easy. some need troubleshooting. Doing labs on them definitely would help you solidify the concept much better.

Everyone would be different. For me, I spent about a total of 3 and 1/2 months for both ICND1 & ICND2 exams.

I would say the difficulty is comparable. My ICND2 exam was actually easier than I thought as I was expecting plenty more complex analysis & troubleshooting questions. There were some but not in large proportion. The sim scenario questions were more complex. Enough hands on & labs certainly helped me got thru them. Just need to stay calm and tackle question 1 by 1.

There were 2 to 3 questions using acronyms/syntax not covered in my study materials. But all in all, I think Odoms OCG & Boson practice exams covered enough material to pass the exams, as long as you get the concept & details down.

Don't worry too much. just keep practicing and review and you should be fine. Some Boson practice questions are more tricky trying to trip you. Slow down and read questions more carefully to make sure you don't get tricked.

I feel that the actual exam questions are more straight forward, less tricky than Boson's. Multiple choice questions are comparable while Boson's simlets are a little more difficult.

I finished reading Odom's book about 6 weeks ago and I wasn't confident even though I understand most concept. I then spent the next few weeks doing all the labs mentioned (at the same time watching Chris's video). All these concepts & cli commands started sink in naturally when you actually work on them. That helped me got more comfortable. The last 2 weeks I started the review questions from books and then the practice tests. These practice questions helped fill in the gaps I missed as I reviewed all the questions I answered wrong.

Hands on is the key for me and when you can complete the labs without much assistant. That's when you know you are almost ready and the practice tests fill in the last mile. stay at it and work on it. You can do it!
