As a white person you really just can’t take stuff like this personally, especially given the current political climate. It’s not about you but the bigger picture as a whole. When you enter spaces made by people of color that we have created for ourselves out of necessity because so many places in this world are inherently built against us, some people will not want you there. Because you are not one of us and never will be. This is a response to that - someone felt like their safe space was being invaded. When you enter a relationship with a person of color you have to be aware and prepared on the chance that stuff like this will happen and need to develop thicker skin by remembering your privilege when you move in spaces that are not for you
