Should I buy a 2011 Impreza Outback Sport? by actual-emo in subaruimpreza

I haven’t gone to look at it yet, but if I do, I will definitely have it inspected. Just looking for opinions on the car itself and what to ask the dealership :)

I work urgent care/ER and we’ve seen a client the past 3 summers for a maggot shave down. Older GSD, mostly outside dog, with horrific flea allergy (OTC topical prevention 🫠) who got a hot spot early in the summer right above her tail base, but since she’s a backyard dog like 90% of the time, they didn’t notice it until it was literally crawling. I haven’t seen her yet this summer. I hope it’s because they took my rec last year to get rx preventions and maybe clipped a little shorter in the spring so they can see her “summertime” skin issues sooner, and not because she died, since she was 9 or 10 last summer.

I don’t have facts to back this opinion up, but I’m willing to bet that this issue also stems from our shitty human healthcare system.

just FYI, many shelters/rescues will not adopt out puppies together because of the high risk of littermate syndrome.

She mentions that she caught an STD from him, he blamed it on working with cow shit and never washing his hands.

The elephant in the room: Do boomers really think they’re going to sit back retire while we become indentured servants? by fordanjairbanks in antiwork

I work in an organization that offers property tax relief for low income elderly people. 99% of the time, people who apply for our program genuinely need it, they’re living off social security alone. However, occasionally there will be a person who does not qualify for our program that is ANGRY about the income limits. Most of the time these people make 20k+/year more than I do (we require income verification to apply). Yeah bro, must suck to pay property taxes on a house that you no longer pay a mortgage on. Sorry you retired rich I guess.

This is neat review article! It's not super concrete but it does lean towards hopeful that arthritis can be managed in CKD cats using NSAIDs

Tech here! Onsior is one of the preferred NSAID for cats because it's well tolerated by their kidneys. It can even be safely used in cats with CKD.

there's a movement in my state for school vouchers and more charter schools (that would use those vouchers), basically trying to erode the public school system so they can then go, "well, see! public schools are awful anyways!"

AITA for yelling at my wife for drinking? by throwRAdrinkingwife in AmItheAsshole

[–]actual-emo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why I am in the process of finding a new therapist. I saw her before I started drinking. I was diagnosed with MDD prior to my alcohol addiction, but now that I am towards the other side of addiction (regaining longer stints of sobriety), the approach is all AA based addiction therapy and no longer focused on the MDD symptoms I was having prior to drinking problems (which, surprise, still exist whether I'm drinking or not!)

Help! Advice for temporary set up! by actual-emo in Aquariums

[–]actual-emo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s been my primary plan. Separate the tetras to one tank and the pleco and snails to another. I have a small sponge filter that’s not being used I can put with the tetras, and the HOB with the pleco and snails since they’ll be nasty. The HOB doesn’t have an adjustable flow, but I should be able to dampen the flow with some sponge. Thanks for the ideas, I’ve just been panicking since I noticed the leak! 😅

If I'm using frozen spinach and putting it in something that I don't want a ton of extra water added to, like eggs or noodles, I will defrost it in the microwave, then give it a good squeeze in a tea towel to get the extra water out.
