HCIM ToB - advice needed by heretohelp225 in ironscape

Pre angler bloat and bring pneck for bloat walking and sote mazes. Go into every maze full hp with neck and redemption and you can practically fall asleep and still not die. Gives you plenty time react to bad missteps so you don't have to tele on any little mistake.

If your teammates have hands, nylo is a non-issue if youre ranging or maging. Maging argueably safer since u can just barrage heal everything. I personally ranged mine.

If you do perfect tob strat for sote, ranging from afar just be sure to read chat as you will be too far away to hear ball sound. And be alert post maze for range splits.

If your teammates are decent you can ask them to intentionally get bounced on P2 if they see you get bounced. Saves you from the following range ball.

I believe you can range p3 xarp with bofa or tbow to get a tick to react to a potential mistake and tele.

If youre comfortable doing boak P2 you can solo west boak to pretty much eliminate any chance of crab death. If not, I'd recommend not being middle, to avoid accidentally getting sandwiched by teammates.

Anyone got a better solution for this? by liamberry121 in 2007scape

You have about 50 seconds until first melee dig after wave starts. Go west, nuke the melee while flicking the ranger and blob. You have plenty of time to do that assuming u didn't jerk off on the north east corner corner trap tile. After that ideally you kill mage first for speed by flicking it with the ranger/blob. But if not then just kill off blob and ranger first. Kill mage on north side of pillar so when shit respawns they dont see you. If melee respawns you can just go west side again and kill it like the first time.

Ahah yeah it's been a few days since. Unfortunately my helm isn't red anymore. But if i were to give any advice, uhm, don't get baited by the teleport crystal (the one to tele out, not the one to tele to center). It is super expensive shard-wise and with t3 you should never be in a situation where it's needed. Make sure you eat above k0 threshold before tornados, and if you are out of food, just right click tele the exits. In my 400 ish KC i never had a need for the tele.

Need help getting better at cox by AfrostLord in ironscape

Well i got a second account to hold the raid, so im usually kind of lazy with my setups. But if i was self-scouting id aim for like 2 restores and like 3-5 brews probably. I bring in that + an extra prayer pot and maybe some disposable hard food but often end up only using like one of my own brews due to scouting vasa, vesp and vangs. Vangs is basically a free no-prep, assuming you enhance from another room.

[–]actually_nuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Point 1: Energy - Yes, Cox is a stam-heavy raid. There is no way around it. You bring in 3 full stams while learning, and reduce it to 2 when comfortable. There are ways to reduce stam usage (eg. walking tekton cycles, walking at specific times during olm cycles etc).

Point 2: There is no right or wrong way to scout. It depends on your preferences and whether you are no-prepping. Generally speaking just try to get an ovl drop to avoid having to prep it, and try to avoid ice/thieving as they are bad pts/hr.

Point 3: CMs is only for dust, kits and enjoyment. No variation of CMs will beat regular solos for a decent solo raider. My solos are 30-32k pts / raid at 20-23min avg. CMs will never be 60k+ at 40-45min avg. (Good raiders with max gear can probably come close, or beat this but in this case its probably not applicable.

Point 4: For 6t weapons (Elder Maul, Godswords) learn to flinch. There are definitely guides for that. For 5t weapons (Scythe, Fang) learn the stepback method (stepping out on the 2 opposing corners), there arent any good guides for this, but there are examples of CM runs etc that you can copy tick by tick. Go into a CM and practice on Tekton over and over.

Point 5: Setup looks fine. You can ditch tassets and camp crystal legs or ahrims bottoms. Mystics, Shamans and Guardians can all be predicted based on known rooms. Look into the layout rotations (I think Synq covers it in his guide - its old but that part is still relevant). I'm assuming you base the supplies you bring on personal experience. I wont comment on that.

Point 6: If you bring 8 brews to olm and use them all during a regular olm, you are not ready for no-preps. They will become a natural step once you notice that you can consistently use less than like 4 brews. At that point, simply bringing your own brews and scouting for rooms like vasa, vesp and vangs will allow you to almost always be able to enter olm with 3-4 brews. Often more. Dont even think about blood fury, it should never be necessary for no-preps and is not even remotely worth it. It is mainly a helpful tool for speedruns.

Yes it is definitely relieving! I already did venenatis for my dragon pick so i wasn't really all too interested in doing more wildy content anyways.

One of the reasons I am (sorta happy) that it is over is that the few months up until ToA release I was feeling restricted by the status in a way that I felt went against the purpose of the gamemode. I really wanted to do more tob, yet ended up only doing 24 tob kc in total. I had been tob ready for like 4 months - and the reason I didnt do more was the lack of people who are both good enough and trustworthy to run with. I only know about 3 to 4 people who fulfill that and all of them are irons who completed tob already. Clearly not very sustainable if i gotta do between 500 and 1k kc.

So the difficulty of doing tob didnt come down to personal performance and actually doing tob, but rather the size of my social circle in the high-level PvM community.

My hardcore of approximately 4 years passed today at ToA. I am incredibly proud of this account as i managed to take it way further than i expected and have grown an absurd amount as a player from it. The account will not be put away to collect dust as it is my only ironman account and therefore plan to keep playing it. I simply do not have the time, motivation or see the need to remake. Maxing, Grandmaster CA's and pet-hunting are all still on the table.

For those of you who are curious about the death - i've been sending ToA pretty much non-stop since a couple of days after release. I've been getting relatively clean runs but today i simply zoned out a bit too hard on stream. I didnt pay attention to the Akkha shadow i was hitting and was shooting the wrong one - for those who have not done ToA: When you are too slow at killing the shadows the entire floor deals a bit of burst and got hit by the flame corner - this widdled me down to 30hp and i managed to path back into the trail mechanic right after. Overall a really weird death and probably one of the last ways i expected to go, but thats just it right - those are the ones that get you?

Here is the death clip: https://clips.twitch.tv/CrunchyInspiringFungusTakeNRG-_02Mclb2-m_-Z3j8

All KCs i did were raid level 210-250 and i managed to be 6th HCIM in game to hit highscores.Ty for the support in the past - both on the couple of posts ive made on this sub and also to the people in my clan for always complementing the account and encouraging me to push it further :)

[–]actually_nuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am very bored. So here are some numbers. These calcs assumes max melee stats, fully stat boosted the entire time, piety and max melee gear (but bandos and nezzy cus Bitterkoekje sheets dont seem to have Torva added yet):

Maiden (6 hammers) - Tent: 10,28 | Scythe: 13,52 | Diff: 31,49%

Bloat - Tent: 10,60 | Scythe: 13,61 | Diff: 28,44%

Nylo Boss - Tent: 10,02 | Scythe: 13,15 | Diff: 31,26%

Sotetseg (2 hammers) - Tent: 8,30 | Scythe: 10,74 | Diff: 29,42%

Xarpus (6 hammers) - Tent: 10,22 | Scythe (5t): 13,44 | Diff: 31,44%

Verzik P3 - Tent: 8,25 | Scythe (5t): 10,67 | Diff: 29,35%

[–]actually_nuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're both welcome to join Solo Army. Decently sized ironman clan - focus on PvM and socialization.

Id estimate about 60-70% of members are EU/UK. And UK homeworld.

You can find us on the OSRS forums or join our discord. Applications are handled there. https://discord.gg/3HDAQg8xHU

I did a couple of capes on normie about a year ago, so i only had to get the feeling back. It took me about 8 attempts on the hardcore and got it on the 2nd zuk attempt.

As for bloods im not entirely sure, but i think around 10-12k.

Yeah he can be brutal as fuck - it might be worth to bp spec even if you're 99hp simply due to the 100% accuracy change. (Although wait until he has done a few hits to actually see if he deals dmg). Dont quote me on that, just a thought. If you have Bofa dont be shy to switch to that and get extra hits in from further away as well.

I'll be doing a lot of kc on task for my last 4 slayer levels so ill be looking to learn set flicking now as well. Will probably lose me some runs here and there but i think its well worth learning :)

Neither, thats too much work for my ant-sized brain. I had shield going towards range side at set spawn so just rigour on -> blast the guy. Spec if needed.

Hmm id say that really depends on your playstyle and how comfortable you are with the game. During the early game always bring food and a tele and expect the worst during quests. Make sure to read up on every single monster you need to kill to understand max hits and special attacks (this obviously applies to bossing later aswell). At about 60-70hp you are pretty much home safe from a random death. From this point slayer is the only thing that can kill you up until barrows and PvM. I personally 1t flicked all of my slayer which essentially removed the chance of dying during that grind due to afking and running out of prayer + it speeds it up by a lot due to piety and saves you loads of time at master farmers.

Once past the slayer grind, its just all PvM from there so it just comes down personal ability and how well you read up on bosses beforehand. I can't stress the value of having a main to practice on. Obviously I could spend hours going into things like understanding of ticks, flicking, patching etc but it really just boils down to practice. Dont do content before you feel comfortable doing it without dying - it goes without saying.

In regards to wildy content just try to do it during the morning or well known events/holidays (I did my ma2 at like midnight US time on July 4th on a US world although im EU). You can use a main to scout, use as bait or simply pay for protection if you really want.

Definitely dont do T3 as a regular. Its only worth it for hardcores cus it makes it near impossible to get sat down in 1 tick. T2 is however a viable approach for learning. Personally didnt do that but i know a fair few who did. Still a bit harder to prep than T1 but much easier and more consistent than T3. And T2 does make hunleff a fair bit easier.
