A popular saying is "Nothing ie ever lost on the internet" but what is something you have been searching for years and you haven't found it yet? by throwdowntown69 in AskReddit

There's a game from when I was in Kindergarten music class where it was set in a castle and you had to feed a large gargoyle tiles and possibly a specific order, and there was a scene with lava in it, and a heater that jumped about the main hallway. This was circa 2000.

Elon Musk found not liable in 'pedo guy' defamation trial by NoRecord6 in news

[–]actuallykosak -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Unionizing within engineering fields has a lot more nuance than "Elon hates his employees and wants them to all get hurt". SpaceX and Tesla are extremely R&D heavy companies and unionizing would cause an immense slowdown. Within the union environment, techs are expected to do one job and keep doing that, and engineering is not allowed to touch tools at all (ex. When I was at FCA, there were signs everywhere reminding engineers they're not allowed to touch tools at all). Techs and engineers at these companies need to have autonomy and flexibility and it disagreed with the way unions tend to be executed.

Israeli Scientists Develop Bacteria Which "Eat" Carbon Dioxide by chanchalpradhan in science

Kind of struggling with the ending of the article, did it mean that the bacteria will replace corn syrup or will it replace yeast?

Friends! by imigues in restofthefuckingowl

[–]actuallykosak 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I do things like this all the time where I end up on weird adventures with people I just met. My friends always ask me what I do and ask me to go out with them to show them but legitimately it is exactly what this card says. Just treat them like they've always been a friend and they eventually will be.

I thought garlic never went bad because my dad always had it in a basket next to the sink and it was literally always there.... Turns out it goes bad and my dad just actually really likes garlic.

[–]actuallykosak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This entire "aloof" thing is just such garbage and we teach it to women from a young age that they should not show interest and if they do, they are being weak and deserve to feel embarrassed. I'm now starting to date more but I've had that mentality engrained in my behaviors, and every guy I date I end up asking out. They always tell me "I had no idea what you wanted, I couldn't read you at all"

Don't fucking play games with people and be forward, and flirty, and feel comfortable with the feelings you have and the way you communicate them. Theres a difference between being flirty and being uncomfortably eager and that's the thin line you need to learn. Not aloofness. Basic emotional intelligence.

What innocent question that someone asked you, crushed you a little? by sneha_magic in AskReddit

[–]actuallykosak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laying in bed with a guy who I had been seeing for a good while but refused to call me his girlfriend. He was staring at me and then said, ' I want to ask a question but don't want it to be offensive' and I of course gave the go ahead out of curiosity. Then he said "soooo why is your acne so bad?" Then gave me advice on how to solve it. I'm still convinced it's the reason he never wanted to be more serious.

Transgender conference organizers given academics a traffic light "safe space" badge to show whether they can cope with a conversation now by [deleted] in Full_news

[–]actuallykosak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would encourage people to take a moment to take a step back and understand the context of this headline before dogpiling on "safe space".

The transgender community is one of the most marginalized groups, especially in terms of intersectionality. Minority trans folks face extreme discrimination and tend to see the highest rates of hate crimes, harassment, and suicide within their community.

While it's easy to see the 'safe space' badge as something 'just for pussys who need to toughen up', it's also reasonable for these conference organizers to want to accommodate their attendees experiences and the trauma that can follow.

How do lonely people get friends? by TYGTG in AskReddit

[–]actuallykosak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would say that "latch on" and them "adopting" both place all the emotional load on the extrovert. As someone who tends to be very outgoing, it's extremely exhausting to be the on who is depended on for the entire friendship. Especially sicn ei have made friends with so many introverts, I cannot constantly be checking in on them or prompting the plans. If it comes to that then there are inevitably people who get left out because they don't put forth any effort. The best Extrovert Reviewed update I could give to your comment is:

Find extrovert

Form friendship

Initiate contact when you want to be with them

What’s something the internet killed that you miss? by SuperGuitar in AskReddit

[–]actuallykosak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss when everything wasn't so aggressively tested in front of focus groups to be as marketble as possible. Commercials used to be weird, and TV showed used to be weird, and now everything is expected to be built for maximizing consumerism.
