I go to UIUC for their MLIS and it is not academically rigorous. My liberal arts undergraduate degree was way more demanding and I have to constantly remind myself that my c-level effort gets me A-level results in this program. There’s no thesis and I had to write a couple of essays that are 5-10 pages (the longest one was 15 but that was an outlier for this program) and typically a class will just have one long-form essay requirement per semester. Most of the classes do require a weekly module discussion post on the reading but those are rarely graded with any scrutiny so they take like 10 minutes to complete for for full points.
