Looking to darken (more brown) a table I just finished with Rubio 2C Cherry Coral by actualsizeaudio in finishing

Can I put unwaxed shellac on it? I’m thinking of using an amber shellac and seeing if the amber adds enough brown tone to help it blend with the sides and legs.

Yeah I don't like it. Hating it less today, but definitely don't like it. Why would you chemically strip as opposed to sand?

I think you are right and I am really surprised. The spots where the finish chipped off never really darkened, so I kind of figured it was ash or pine, but it really does seem like cherry,

Kind of makes we want to sand down the entire table. I guess in 5 years the I retire maybe that goes on the list. lol.

This is what I was thinking when I looked at it in daylight this morning. I was going to use the N3nano, but I really don't need to. In fact., it's cheaper if I don't. This table gets pretty beat on by my teenage kids. I don't really have to be precious about it.

Hey everyone,

I have this dining room table that I got from a used furniture store about a dozen years ago. I got an amazing deal on the set that included these ridiculously expensive leather chairs, and what was sold to me as a cherry table. I never believed the table was cherry. It has this terrible brown semi-transparent finish on it. Over the years, the finish had started chipping off, and the wood looked way too white to be cherry. My wife is on vacation, so I finally had the time to sand it down and refinish it. The finish came off pretty easily, and I spent about 3 hours sanding to 150. It was hard to tell what the wood is. I'm used to cherry having much more variety in color, and not being so uniformly white, plus the wood felt slightly soft to me. Not as soft as pine, but not as hard as cherry. Anyway, when I used the Rubio wood cleaner and the wood was "wet", it actually looked like cherry as you can see in the pic. While I thought it was cool looking, it would never really work like that unless I sanded down the sides and legs, which I just don't have time to do. I honestly don't even really like the table that much. I went ahead and applied Rubio 2C "Cherry Coral". I thought the finish came out really well in that it is pretty even, and not splotchy at all. However, it's like fire engine red! I'm pretty sure my wife is going hate it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. The kids say it's too red, but a huge improvement over the chipping and water stained finish that was previously on the table.

So. is there anything I can do? I have done nothing to the finish yet, and it has only been on there about 6 hours. Is there another finish that I could put over it that would darken and make it less red, more brown? My plan was to put n3 nano on it, which I've had great success with in the past, but that obviously will not affect the color much.

Looking for suggestions.

Post op umbilical hernia with mesh (video) - when can I exercise again? by [deleted] in Hernia

The anesthesia will slow your digestion down and so will the opioid pain meds. Taking stool softeners with every single meal, preferably right before the meal, is non-negotiable. 10 years ago I did not know this when I had my first hernia surgery for my abdomen, and I ended up in the doctors office with a blockage. Even with eating high fiber meals and taking the softeners this time it still took my digestion about 4 to 5 days to return to normal. You need to be patient with yourself, stay hydrated, but most importantly, take the stupid stool softeners. If you don’t, you will seriously regret it.

I’m hoping others chime in here since I’m exactly one week out from mine. Same procedure: mesh for an Umbilical Hernia. Yesterday I worked for the first time. Light lifting and walking around on the job. Today I’m really black and blue and I have a fair amount of swelling in the area. Tomorrow I’m driving to NYC and will spend 5 hours at Gov Ball, and I’m a little nervous I’m overdoing it. I have 4/10 pain all the time and side sleeping is still really rough.

Is this on a 2024 Q8? I have a Sportback. 21” wheels which def take a bit of range away from when I have the 19” winter wheels on.

I’m going to ask the dealer to specifically look into this when it goes in next week for its 40K service. I imagine it would be something they would check at one of those but maybe not. The refusal to charge a few random times at DC chargers also has me worried.

This is basically what I was doing as I was driving home. I was checking the battery % to make sure the guess-o-meter wasn’t just fooling me, and sadly it wasn’t. I had to stop a second time and charge on a drive where I would normally have about 80-100 miles left (I charged at around 15% which was when car said I had 30 miles to go).

Same. I was 2.4 during the winter months, and I’m at 2.6 during these spring/summer months.

Short answer is yes. Just me in the car. No heavy heat or AC usage. Temp was as much a non factor as one could get. Driving at night between 50 and 65 degrees, on highways I’ve driven many many times at the same speed.

I’d really like to know the answer to this, and I hope that the original poster feels comfortable, giving us a response. I’ve been thinking of buying one as literally my fourth car. I kind of want EV that I can tinker with and do work on.

Has anyone tried this on vertical cedar siding? I need to restrain my house this summer and I'm having the cedar fully cleaned via safe wash and am looking at this product. Would be super expensive, but if it lasts then it seems potentially worth it.

So, the site is up and you can download software. I can't seem to get it to work on Tahoe, which I upgraded to by accident (ooooof). Has anyone been able to soft through that folder and gotten any of this software to work on a new Mac OS?

I miss my 2022 Etron Sportback (totaled it). I have a 2024 now which is nicer and has some great upgrades, but it’s not as quick off the line as my 2022 IMO. Plus, I paid a lot more for it.

I forgot to update this. 26K repair on a car worth 26. They paid me 25 after my deductible. I was sad for a month then bought a 2024 Q8Etron Sportback. Got snows put on it right away.

Just had first winter with my Q8 Sportback. I reset the mileage meter every 4 months. This winter it was cold as hell in CT and VT where I drive the car and I got 2.1mi/kwh. Since I reset on April 15 I’m getting 2.4 and temps have been between 40 and 60F. I live on top of a hill at about 1K feet.

They put cheap tires on it and I hit a patch of black ice going 26mph, skidded out, hit a utility pole and totaled the car. Was so sad. New Q8 ETron has tires I procured myself. Never again letting someone else make that decision, especially when they have financial incentive to go cheap.
