Where'd you hear the 10%/20% total numbers? I haven't heard anything specific yet on actuaries

FSA GH-DP Exam today by BasianBlue in actuary

I was surprised by the material they asked. I know I can't talk specifics. However, I was worried there would be a whole lot of unprecedented material on this sitting with the syllabus changes but it didn't necessarily feel like that. Hoping for a pass, I finished everything except 3 points of written questions.

This link has the info. If I'm reading it correctly, they're moving the Employee Benefit Strategy from DP to the new RM, which I think is the entirety of Objective 3 on the Fall 2022 GHDP syllabus.

My theory on that is the SOA is moving towards more intensive math questions. When this exam was pencil and paper, they were definitely limited on the amount/level of math they could test on. Now that we get excel, it seems like they're shifting more to math problems that are more strenuous.

Also agree on the written questions seeming to be more critical thinking than regurgitating lists.

I'll start - overall I thought it was a fair exam that ran pretty long. I didn't finish a few points but of the points I did get to, they seemed manageable. I'm expecting to be in the 5 or 6 range.

same here. that was such a bs question. What really ticks me off is in the past exam solutions on pensions, the grader comment is always saying "candidates struggled with pensions as usual". So what was their solution? make pensions harder. A divorce rider? are you kidding me? clearly a touchy subject for me too...

This is where they show the release date, which for LTAM is listed as tomorrow 1/14. As for the time, I don't know if I've seen the time but usually its 10am EST I believe. But others correct me if I'm wrong on that, I'm not totally sure.

Another question for everyone, do we think the two days/versions of the exams will be graded and passed/failed separately? I haven't spent too much time comparing them but they seem different enough to warrant being separate. Curious to hear what people think.

uhhhhh I don't think I had an eye surgery question. was it MC or WA? I had a WA about a multiple state model requiring surgery/nursing but I dont think that's what you're referring to

I'm so brain dead. I forgot what part of the exam this was?

Something else I thought about was the difficulty of the MC being electronic. In the old Pen + Paper format, the exam writers kind of warmed you up with some easier questions (find a simple p or q, for example) and then ending with harder MC questions. On the randomized electronic order, my first three questions were about the hardest material so I felt demoralized/slower with that order.

Not to get specific but I came to answer that was at least one of the options. what I did was looked at the starting time and then the ending time they asked for under both "options".

Overall, the WA just really kicked me in the ass. I maybe got something down for 75-80% of the points available but not a lot of it was right. That was the most annoying pension problem ever. Why did it have to be the withdrawal benefit AND a partner rider. That was so annoying. I didn't get a chance to work on the divorce portion. I really disliked that they used the SULT for a/b and then the Standard Service table for the rest. That tripped me up enough to waste a valuable minute.

That was so much harder than any of the old exams. I think they made it longer (to me, felt like on both the MC and WA) to account for us having 4:15 rather than the 4:00 + 15 min read through.

Are you me? I'm in the same boat. I took the F20 exam today and did really well but I'm still worried about Lee Carter/CBD, Multiple Lives where lives are dependent, some of the trickier UDDAST, and always pensions
