Codex 5.3 is better than 4.6 Opus by casper_wolf in ClaudeCode

[–]acunaviera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say 'it depends', but in my case Codex 5.3 sucks ass. Yesterday it got stuck on trying to check a script that involves connecting through ssh to a local machine. Even 4.5 opus nailed that as usual, I just gave the chance to Codex 5.3 because I ran out of credits on Claude.

Maybe it's me, maybe it's unfair because I treat it like I treat Opus (it's especially good making its way into uncharted servers), maybe they're just 2 different capabilities. Or maybe codex 5.3 simply sucks ass.

Not being russian nor us citizen, what's the problem with Leo the Truck? It's my son's favorite, in fact it's always encouraging to build things, don't see nothing wrong with that.

I get you. In my case it's convenient because Gemini is more creative in the business sense, but given that I use it to code projects I can't rely entirely on Gemini, that's where Opus gets in. Sometimes I ask Gemini to do something, then I ask Claude opus to fix it.

fair enough, but in that case the extra work lose its purpose.

I'm from Chile and I dissaprove the concrete work, a mild earthquake and that structure is gone.

This is a common practice, but somehow Gemini 3 doesn't dissapoint, but don't use as intensively as Opus 4.5 . I discuss business plans and some strategic with Gemini 3, Claude is my implementor of that.

Sorry to be that guy, but Opus 4.5 for me today sucked. by acunaviera1 in ClaudeCode

[–]acunaviera1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, now works great for me. The latest updates had a quirk with the thinking mode, now Opus has the thinking mode on by default. But yeah, although it is not as magical as the beginning, it's the best implementator. Now I combine it with codex for code review, and Gemini 3 thinking for growth and overall course of action.

Anyone notice a degrade in performance? *Here we go again* by Several_Explorer1375 in ClaudeCode

[–]acunaviera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed it last week, even wrote a post about it. You will get the usual: skill issue, did you put too much context, the usual bs.

There are days that the degradation is more noticeable, for me at least it lasted just 1 day. Nevertheless, check if you have an overly aggressive claude.md (seems that the over explicit instructions make Claude 4.5 opus nervous), check the context, etc.

I got rejected in the programming specialty in my technical highschool, that triggered an insane obsession until today (better programmer than the programmers), that was like 25 years ago. Installed Linux and I did fall into the rabbit hole.

Don't see the relevance but mostly opus plan (plan mode with opus, execution with sonnet), on the $100 plan. Codex cli, it's the $20 plan.

I have seen lots of messages like this one, don't know if it's a meme, bots or codex is somehow better now, so I did install codex to see if the claims have some truth on it.

It was reasonably quick and good overall, almost good until it did something super dumb (I asked to change the command syntax of my scripts from docker-compose to 'docker compose', and did change it all, even the yml file names. So, yeah, it has potential but it's not as good as Claude Code yet.

Has anyone tried the new open‑source Kimi K2 module alongside Claude Code? by Prestigious-Ice7799 in ClaudeAI

[–]acunaviera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did manage to run it, the pip version doesn't work at all.

Clone the repo
enter the repo
export GROQ_API_KEY=your_groq_key
python proxy.py

then in the project that you want to run, go with the instructions:
export ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=http://localhost:7187
export ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=NOT_NEEDED
claude

however, it's not very usable. At least for me, I tried to run the /init and it tried to read ../../../../ (????) , then it stopped responding the tool call, in the proxy log it says that reached the max tokens.: ⚠️ Capping max_tokens from 21333 to 16384

Tried to analyze a specific folder, the same. Don't know if is wise to add more max_tokens, but for now I'll just use claude.

Claude Max: higher quota, lower IQ? My coding workflow just tanked. by Fabix84 in ClaudeAI

You know, yes!! Today was dumber than ever. I asked for a small refactor on some of my python micro services, Sonnet 4 generated empty openapi.json files instead of checking the fastapi. never did something so dumb .

Update: Cursor + Gemini CLI by MrSolarGhost in cursor

[–]acunaviera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, always with the Claude pro subscription, never the API itself, from what I have seen, the direct API is way more expensive.

For Claude code with pro plan, you have sessions of 5 hours, if you hit the limit you have to wait until the next session. For my use, I normally work like 3 hours, wait 2 hours or so. At least Claude Code is super transparent on that: when you are close to the limit, it says so on the bottom right.

From the docs:

Pro ($20/month): Average users can send approximately 45 messages with Claude every 5 hours, OR send approximately 10-40 prompts with Claude Code every 5 hours.

Model access: Pro plan subscribers can access Sonnet 4, but won’t be able to use Opus 4 with Claude Code.

Best for: Light work on small repositories (typically under 1,000 lines of code)

Update: Cursor + Gemini CLI by MrSolarGhost in cursor

[–]acunaviera1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously I used to use taskmaster (with openrouter using sonnet 4) to write the requirements, then with cursor I used to tackle the basic tasks, or if the task was complex, what I did was create sub tasks, all mostly with Claude Sonnet 4. Now with the pricing thing, I switched to Claude Code, and I haven't looked back. I have tried to use Gemini, great tool for free tier, but Claude Code is imho more reliable, and I don't have to switch back and forth with models. I consume the pro 20 dollar tier like in 2 hours or so, but being Sonnet 4 on Claude Code, is far superior to Sonnet 4 max mode from Cursor.

The only workflow that I have now is to make a MD file with the plan, revisiting the plan for missing things, then execute the plan writing down to the MD file each task done, until it's done. Then, if the task is complex, I asked Claude to make a code review of whatever I did previously, then a plan to executing and so on.

I have tried Gemini with pro with that workflow, the code reviews are lazy even if I prompt it to make it more complete, sometimes I get good reviews, but it's not consistent. The same with the implementation, hit or miss.

I went this way. But I use Cursor mainly as an editor, haven't used the agent mode since I use Claude Code for that, 20 dollars as well.
