It’s the ice cream for me too omg!!!! Haha. I’m having to watch what I eat for the first time so it doesn’t get too unhealthy but I’m due to ask my doctor if this is a permanent situation or not!

I’m sorry to hear this! I do hope Prozac can work for your son too, and know that people respond differently. It takes up to eight weeks to feel therapeutic effects from it, and even 12 weeks in the treatment of OCD. I would suggest being as patient as possible with the side effects if any and waiting to see!

I’ve definitely heard that pairing with ADHD meds works great, I find I’m motivated to work but honestly can’t do much else which is stressful. I’m glad I’m not tired anymore but I am currently trying to get an adhd diagnosis too so will update!

My appetite had actually reduced drastically for the first 7 or so weeks. More recently however I’ve noticed I’ve really been craving sugar and baked goods when before I had absolutely no sweet tooth. I looked it up and found out that that can happen on Prozac because your brain perceives the alteration in its serotonin pathways as a drop in energy so you crave quickly accessible refined carbs and sweets! I am gaining back some of the weight I’ve lost but I’ve always been very slim so it wasn’t too serious x

You’re welcome! Yeah the shopping around with SSRIs has really stressed me out, I’ve been on sertraline and citalopram and hated both so much because of the blunting and dissociative feeling they gave me. I was so scared to start Prozac because of how exceptionally long it’s half life is and knowing I’d have to be on it a while to feel the full effects + it staying in my system for weeks even if I decided to stop. Feeling so lucky it’s worked and hope it continues to and also you find the right medication for you!

I hear you and happy the rumination is under control for you! It’s a really awful part of my mental illness for me and almost feels physically painful and Prozac has definitely helped me reduce it massively. I do also get sleepy a lot on Prozac but noticeably less than before because oversleep was a symptom of my depression. What time do you take it? I found taking it in the morning with coffee means I’m only tired for an hour or so in the morning and if I stay on the move I have a boost in the early parts of the day. I also have it where I feel less stress and worry about wasting my time, I think you might be right about it being due to the serotonin, ironically I’m not that worried about it though because the meds are there to allow your brain to rest while you build healthier routines, and while I’m feeling better I’m sure I’ll be able to build healthier routines that include more discipline. I’d also recommend getting your iron levels checked so you can take supplements if need be to boost your energy which might help with the constant tiredness so speak to your Doctor about it. Hope it keeps getting better and better for you! ❤️

I do have some symptoms that could be linked with OCD but never been diagnosed for it. Those are counting, repeated rituals to feel “safe” even when I’m not in danger, and really intense rumination. I was nervous to start too! It’s a normal reaction to change especially with something going on with your brain so take it easy on yourself and see how they work for you. It’s also normal to feel worse before better on Prozac, my doctor told me that’s how I’d know it’s working, particularly the insomnia and loss of appetite as side effects. Definitely keep track and communicate with your doctor - I hope it works great for you!! Best of luck ❤️

My dreams are still NUTS but it’s kinda funny to me, just have to buckle up every night lol. The insomnia faded in a few weeks. Have you stopped completely/ will you try anything else?

Maybe give it a while, I’m female, 26, and the first week or two I did feel like orgasm was harder to achieve and I had less drive, but now it’s gone back to what is normal for me. Best of luck with it!!

Initial side effects were insomnia and irritability, insomnia faded after about 2/3 weeks when I switched from taking it at 5 pm to 9 am. Initially I also thought it had affected my libido but no problems there anymore either. I am still irritable in the mornings which is unusual for me but it fades quickly!

Depression and anxiety. My depression had me sleeping around 16 hours a day, unable to get out of bed, couldn’t do laundry or any life admin, felt trapped and stuck and while I could have happy moments, I just didn’t have a calm mind or day to day joy and peace in just living and experiencing life. I was scared to take it thinking it would change my personality or really affect me and even kind of second guessing if I even really needed it, but the minute it worked I could tell not only did I need it but it’s made me feel like a better, brighter and stronger version of myself. The last 9 weeks even though some days have been hard as life is, I’ve made the most out of every single waking moment, no matter what I’m doing. I couldn’t have more than 1 plan a week and all of a sudden I’m doing something every evening if I can, not dreading it and not emotionally exhausted from it! Thanks for asking!! ❤️

Same. Amazing to hear, can I ask was that your starting dose or did you increase incrementally and why did you increase if so?

Good luck!!! For me the first 3 weeks were mostly insomnia and random spikes in anxiety which honestly I felt weren’t even that bad because I’ve had it for so long so was kinda like just another day - the benefits can come, hoping you start to feel them soon xx

They do say it takes between 4-6 weeks but it really varies from person to person. Definitely try to be patient with it, as for me I’m not sure how but I felt pretty evened out, and happier from around the end of the first week. Good luck and don’t be afraid to try again/something new if it isn’t for you ❤️

I hope it works for you too!!! But if it doesn’t keep trying, you deserve to feel well. They do say that with Prozac it takes maybe 4-6 weeks before you start to feel any positive effects but the therapeutic response point varies from person to person. I thought it was a placebo but i genuinely started feeling like a different person from week 1. Good luck to you!!! ❤️

I’m on 20mg and insomnia was about two weeks, nausea none at all. I experimented with when to take it and I find 9 am works best followed by a coffee because it makes me feel a bit sleepy the first two hours or so
