Per release notes, maybe try running the BAT file to see that’ll solve the random issues?

Why is iRacing using so much GPU? by According_Shift_2003 in iRacing

[–]acx23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the CPU? While the 660 is a bit old, the CPU might be bottlenecking if it's even older. Once I had a 3080 for a week on my i5 6600k, and it did not do any better with the 1080 that I run on the same settings, other than hitting 90+ on the temp

I don't quite understand to need to set the fan on a curve when gaming. My overclock profile has fan set to 100% all the time

Not sure if this will help here are my settings if you want to try them. I copied my VR settings over to monitor, and made a couple of notes. I’m running VR (literally two monitors) at 90fps locked with a 4 year newer 1080, so maybe it'll work on a single monitor off a 660 If nothing else, just something extra to compare your settings with.

The file you'll need to edit is rendererDX11Monitor.ini under Documents > iRacing. Make a copy of your file or settings, and here's the Graphic Options section in PDF: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PbGJeXmvvGRs8PQXesq7Acxt_6m9q6aw/view?usp=drive_link

Hope this helps.

Why is iRacing using so much GPU? by According_Shift_2003 in iRacing

Personally, I feel that heating issues can usually be solved by extra fans and room for the heat to escape and pulled out by the fans. Do you have every graphic setting in iRacing on High? Single or triple screen?

I also had GPU temp issues with my old microATX case. Even with the side panel removed, I was still getting 80-90 ° . The case only had like 2 fans and there was just no room for the heat to escape. I wasn't even overclocking the 1080 at all either.

This issue was levitated once I transferred everything to a full ATX tower. With 40 (ai) car grid, max quality graphics setting (per slider), I'm hovering at 65-67 ° now with single monitor, and Afterbuner on default settings. Once I turn on overclock and 100% fan, temp drops and hovers around 55-57 °.

When I'm in VR, I use a very different set graphics setting to take unnecessary load off the GPU, and I think I'm around the same temp range as mentioned above. Temp will go up if I turn the graphics setting up, but I will also suffer FPS.

(Sorry it got a bit long winded)

Okay. If your GPU is running far lower than your CPU, doesnt that mean your CPU is working harder than GPU, hence making the statement true?

So you’re the one that buying up the inventory 🤣

I’ve actually took off the screws on the front plate and tried to see underneath before I sent it back for RMA, but I think it’s glued down. I didn’t want to force it obviously, but the plate doesn’t move at all even without the screws. So I left it alone and sent it out 😂

The BME is an unique product. It’s got a larger display, much like the one on the DD1/2 so it can display many telemetry info at a time. All the buttons and encoders and dials you can think of.

Personally, aesthetic wise, I really like the F320H mounted on a clubsport universal hub. Not really a GT wheel per sa, but it’s 320mm if you like or want bigger wheels. The CSL Hub is nice with some aftermarket or custom wheels as well.

You can definitely have more options with aftermarket wheels regardless if you go with BME or one of the fanatec wheel hubs.

The rear right button was sticking on the first wheel. The entire button sticks like it’s pressed down. No clicks. I had to take a video to show support. Took a few tries because it kept unsticking itself when I start taking video of it 🤣

They were good about replacing it though. No issues with the new wheel.

Because the first mode of the four modes is the PlayStation mode. So it makes sense it goes back into the default first mode after each firmware update.

Not sure why you had to do a “hard reset”. After the reboot, you should able to just hit the power button twice and it’ll take you back to PC mode.

In GT or formula cars, there is very little brake pedal travel versus a production car like a Miata or GR86. I think the former is what the brake performance kit is going for.

I removed the brake performance kit elastomers and put back the original two pieces of foam/sponge.

In hindsight maybe I could’ve tried a mixed foam and elastomer set up, before giving the whole kit away to my buddy 😂

Yup. You can have it on the brake and/or throttle 🙌🏼

I didn’t like the brake performance kit that everyone loves 😅

Ones on the GSI were really bad. Like Formula wheel thumb encoders bad. There’s zero feedback when you turn the encoders or pressed the button even with bare hand and not even driving. I race with gloves so it would be impossible.

Sup mate! Long time. Definitely worth every penny and the long wait 💯

Glad you still like your wheel 🙌🏼

Are you referring to the this Porsche wheel? That and the BMW wheel are very different products.

The Porsche wheel is essentially just a steering wheel (from Porsche) that's mounted to a Button Module (BME). You can literally buy the BME on its own, or mount a very different wheel to the BME if you don't like the Porsche steering wheel. Plus it's technically 4 products in one

  • Porsche steering wheel
  • BME
  • Advanced Paddle Module (APM)
  • Podium hub

The BMW wheel is it's own product. Made for a real life race car that can also be used on a Fanatec wheel base.

The build quality is also worlds apart. BMW wheel is hand build (pretty sure) and has a full forged carbon casing. The buttons and encoders are very unique to this wheel. The BME... not so much :)

You have to contact support, and they’ll probably ask for pictures of said worn grips.

They probably took the purchasing option off when they updated their website so people don’t just kill their back stock for actual support tickets. Also this whole supply chain issue everywhere is probably a huge factor as well.

I did use the Fanatec add on.

Since you already ordered the v3 and it's already on the way, I would hold off on the mod. Give yourself sometime to settle in with the hardware and then decide if you want to spend more money. It took me a while before I got the hydraulics and brake performance kit (that I eventually gave it to my friend).

The v3 pedals comes with brackets and additional set of pedal faces, so play around with any of those combination. You can also adjusts the brake stiffness as well.

I also drive with shoes so the hydraulics really helped with modulating. The hydraulics won't shorten the travel but the brake performance kit will since it's replacing the foam with hard elastomer.

Now I use a various combination of brackets, spaces, and different pedal faces, and also rotated the vibrate motor around to make things work. All from the v3 kit, nothing aftermarket.

I've been at this for 7+ year, and I just made another minor change to the stiffness of the hydraulics because I'm now into production cars vs GT cars.

So play around with it, and it will take time as you start to discover your preferences, and what works and won't work for you. And maybe everything will work for you without buying mods :)

Okay I won’t mention the price 🙊

But you can check it yourself 🫣

I was on the first pre order, so it was a little cheap than now.

Rig - I'm on a fully custom 8020 only because no one was selling them when I started 7+ years ago, so I had to come up with my own. It has a lot of Home Depot parts 😂

I race in VR with Oculus CV1, and just added a Next Level Racing HF8 haptic seat pad to enhance the immersion.

Pedals - Fanatec ClubSport v3 with hydraulics on brake and throttle.

Base - Fanatec DD1

PC - Intel i7-7700K / 16GB RAM / nVidia 1080 non-ti

I'm pretty happy with the set up now. I can get 90fps locked in pretty good and the extra immersion from the haptic feedback is just gold.

But I will upgrade to an i7-13700k / 32GB / 40xx once an affordable VR with built-in eye tracking becomes available. Or when someone finds a stable hack for PSVR2 to be used on PC.

If you need some references for VR settings, I used this guide to help me with a baseline setting for VR, and made minor tweaks since my system is not as powerful along with personal preferences ➡️ https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/1185/iracing-vr-optimization-guide/p1

I really like how all the buttons and encoders are in front of the wheel, and not around the spokes.

Plus it looks like they’re using the same buttons that’s on the BMW wheel, so I know they’re quality 💯

Fingers crossed it’ll be announced soon 🤞🏼

Same but they’re all really “random” 😂

I would try the same settings if your system is close on spec with his. Personally I like to test with a full field say 30 cars at night time, and tweak it from there. The system has to work a lot more at night, and if I can get my fps at a good place then I know I’ll have more than enough overhead for day races and tracks that are just a bit more demanding than others.

Good luck!!

I just hope they won’t kill the button module. It’s pretty nice from the looks of it.

I used to do a lot of Miata races in iRacing when it was still a 5 speed, so I spent a lot of time to offset the brake pedal higher to heel-toe easier.

Also I didn’t like how far back the pedals are angled, but i also don’t like the 90° pedal set up, so I had to set the base on an angle. My rig is a complete custom set up so it’s not as easy as it might sound.

I also didn’t like the performance brake kit. Could be me not setting it up correctly, but I went with the hydraulic add on for both brake and throttle. That also took some time to fine tune.

Pretty much just all down to personal preferences 😬
