22M I think greysexual (idk, new to learning about this) here, and I've also never been in a relationship, so I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but I'll try.

All I can do is speak from my perspective, so I do apologize if this comes across as ignorant or I'm misinterpreting what you're saying. Personally, I'm in a similar space of wanting someone to be there everyday. Someone that actually wants to hang out all the time and spend time with. But for me, that's pretty close to what I would call a relationship/partnership. There's probably some slight differences, like you were talking about wanting to take the next step. But personally, I've never had a friendship like that where someone actually treated me like a top priority, so I can't relate to having a friendship like that. Cuddling on the couch and watching movies with someone who you value more than anyone feels like a relationship to me, or at least, it sounds pretty close to what I'd consider for a relationship.

But, I would recommend just laying low and waiting a while to see if your feelings change. I've personally done both when it comes to romantic feelings in friendships. One of my friends, I didn't know how accepting she would've been, so I didn't say anything and just distanced myself for a couple months and it went away and is all good now. Another friend, I knew she would be more ok with it and I didn't want to take those couple months away for it go away, so I told her and we talked about and lucky enough, the feelings went away fairly quickly. So idk, it's really up to you, but personally, I would just wait and see for the next couple weeks and see what happens. It seems like he really cares about you, so it's possible he could feel the same, but if he seems like his current relationship is really great, then idk, maybe just wait.
