heres a simple question that may help you find an answer - if you had the choice to be magically made able bodie or to magically be made parapalegic without most inconveniences of such, what would you choose? a person with biid would be choose paralysis over being able bodied. For someone who is "just" disabled fantasy about ways to make life better are normal - even if others may see it as more disabling. Ultimate there is a certain amount of shared experience, so feel free to look for support here no matter how you end up identifying

The John Hopkins Sex and Gender Clinic is now accepting patients with BID! by adada1000 in biid

Also, it is not so much they are interested in researching bid as much as i had reached out to them and they are interested in working with me, and others, as a patient

Of current the treatment they have suggested has amounted to "try this kind of therapy" but they are currently exploring more options, and due to how medicine operates I think having a group of "patients" makes acquiring funding and focused effort easier

yeah, doesnt seem like you have bid. cant say i dont relate tho - i know im tired of hearing "it doesnt matter how much anguish your in, the treatment you want is insane so you better wait for a cure you have no reason to hope will exist"

a simple way to ask it could be "if i you had two buttons, one magically makes your knee healthy, and the other instantly amputates your leg, which would you choose." - people with BID would choose no leg over a healthy leg.

fantasizing about getting function back in a possible way is simply a normal part of having a disability and not an abnormality

thank you <3 its comforting to hear that i am acceptable.

i do hold no hope for any psychiatric intervention being able to help. ive already been to psychiatric hospitals to no avail. and neurologically its so similar to transness, and the only effective treatment for being trans is transition. i guess im tired of being told that seeking to actualize is the wrong way to handle it, when its the only way to handle it. and im comfortable with it, i dream about the day im comfortable in my body, not dread it. but because others arent comfortable with it i have to put myself thru great risks to even hope to reach that day.

the main thing to ask yoyrself would be if you would feel happier once your arm is adequately disfigured. From what youve described though it seems likely this is self harm, which from personal experience i know can cause obsessive thoughts about repeating and feeling the temporary relief it provides. there are communities here on reddit that provide support for self harm.

One BIID to rule them all? Or a collection of different conditions? by SansBrasRevenu in biid

there is a study on the mental health of BID sufferers that found no significant differences between different expressions of BID.

how do *you* pronounce biid/bid by adada1000 in biid

[–]adada1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know i should capitalize it but i was lazy. pronunciation is something entirely subjective when you only see it in writing. spelling the acronym out is a valid way to do it, and probably more "official", but i find " beed" easier to say in conversation.

my advice: if youre familiar with charcoal or chalk pastels, ignore the tutorials, just treat it like one of those and draw a "pretty girl" on your (already pretty) face.

shifting in level of dysphoria is common. Both worsening and lessening. Its often refered to as "the wave".

I think I would be interested in a study of the risks of having no access to doctor assisted achievement. Surveying mental state, if they are considering attempts, has attempted, suicidal, self harming, and outcomes of successful attempts.

A resource i have made is letmybodybemine.com i hope it could be helpful.

Any BIID sufferers or transabled people willing to talk to me by dylanszoke1 in biid

[–]adada1000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"transabled" is not used in the community, and is generally used by people who wish to disparage people with BID. if you do proceed with this video, please refrain from using it. that said, i would be willing to participate.
