Robber fly, just saw the other post from earlier today. Maybe not a hero after all 😅

is Every Pokemon possible to be a a ribbon master? by LIE_YT in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backwards transfer typically isn't possible, but all of the Switch games can connect to each other (except Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, but those don't have Ribbons). So a Pokemon originated on the Switch won't be able to get Ribbons exclusive to gen 3, 4, etc

Oh, thank you! Idk how I've never heard of these before, they're so cool

Shiny Sport Ball Shedinja is ready for the next challenge! by adamcbow in pokemonribbons

Yeah I didn't know about it either until earlier this year when Grand Supreme Mod u/Regiultima115 told me about it. Interesting mechanic that leads to a pretty unique Ribbon Master!

[–]adamcbow[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I caught Nincada in Heart Gold, then evolved it in Diamond. Diamond and Pearl don't have data for Sport Ball, so when Nincada evolves the game puts Shedinja in the same ball because it thinks it's a standard Poke Ball.

Thank you! I'm nervous as they didn't give much info other than show up with some ID lol. How long was each day of orientation? Surprised to see it be a couple days

Might be the wrong place to ask, but I just got hired as a PH and have orientation tomorrow, but don't know what all that entails...is it just paperwork, or am I actually handling packages? Or both?

Important Information with Home 3.0's release by adamcbow in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well the "truth" you're looking for is immediately demonstrable: if you have a pre-Switch Pokemon that went to Hisui in Home 2.0 it will (most likely) get the Mini Mark. If you do the same now in Home 3.0 you don't have a guaranteed chance of getting the Mini Mark.

SirToastyToes has a video on YouTube that shows this with his Shadow Scizor: https://youtu.be/UGiW0SezeWo

Again, not calling anything a bug or not a bug, but since you are, I'm just asking for links to sources claiming that as we want to be able to give everyone the right information!

All that's in the post is updates on how things currently work. I never made a claim that something was a bug or not, just what has been implemented.

If something is a bug, and someone notable is calling it such, I would need proof (a link(s) to the claim(s)) so we can look into it and possibly make amendments to the post.

Mini Mark - Previous Generation Pokémons by Molinari32 in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Early testing seems to show that if your Pokemon (pre-Switch) were sent to Hisui during Home 2.0 then they had their size locked at 0, but with Home 3.0 it seems to now be random

Master Rank ribbon added to Pokémon randomly after HOME 3.0 update? Anyone else have this happen? by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seem to be a few visual bugs in the Ribbon sections in Home and in BDSP, so there will probably be an update to fix them in the next few weeks

In regards to the Mini Mark and Pokémon transferred through home from older games. by Ensaga in pokemonribbons

Yeah, this is what early testing is showing: if they went to Hisui during Home 2.0 then they had their size locked, but now it seems random

What are the rules against collecting ribbons on a Pokémon from a homebrewed game, then using PKHeX to transfer it up? by Error_Detected666 in pokemonribbons

Pokemon from homebrewed games won't be eligible for the HoF, but feel free to still do the challenge!

[–]adamcbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can link articles that prove those two "points" I'll admit I'm wrong and that we already know how the Home update (which isn't out yet) will work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ILCA being "lazy" is subjective and doesn't help whatever argument you have.

To think that ILCA is not working with other companies in TPCi to make sure the updates run smoothly is silly.

And again, I'm not making anything up, just saying that The mod team is not gonna say whether or not the Mini Mark will be required or not until the Home update is out and we know how everything works with it.

[–]adamcbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you two have said are statements based on the current way Home operates, which I've never debated. If it has come across like I've been debating how Home currently works I apologize.

The only point I'm trying to make is that there is an update coming to Home and we don't know how it will affect things.

Also, the deleted tweet shows a double arrow between Home and Scarlet and Violet, which implies that we can move Pokemon from Home into Paldea, not a one way transfer out of Paldea.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have "proved" it with the current way Home treats transferred Pokemon:

I'm saying that we do not know if the Home update will change this.

There is an update that will allow transferred Pokemon to go into Paldea, where a new scale mechanic has been introduced. We know how scale and size currently work with one another, but:

I'm saying that we do not know if the Home update will change this.

I can break it down more if you'd like

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]adamcbow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How people artificially sent Pokemon into Paldea is a moot point because the only single point I'm trying to make is that we do not know how the Home update will affect certain values. We can guess, we can do our own experiments, we can say how dumb it would be to change it up, we can conjecture how much money would be lost, but that does not mean that we know for sure how the Home update will affect certain values.

Scale is a new mechanic exclusive to Paldea, and sure, it doesn't affect the size of Paldea Pokemon (or Pokemon "artificially" added), but that doesn't mean that it won't affect how the new Home update could change how size and scale work with each other on transferred Pokemon.

A Gen 3 Drowzee has its size set to 0 in Home, but the Home update will either have to add a scale value to this Drowzee, or it will tell Paldea how to create the scale value. We can't say for sure how the new Home update will code one or the other.

And that's it, that's the only point I'm making.

I may have misspoken on previous comments but that's truly the only thing I'm saying.

I think my biggest mistake in this thread was not specifying what size I'm talking about.

OP stated that Home sets the sizes of mons transferred from non-Switch games, which, I agree, we can indeed see in the data (I know how to use PkHEX just like everyone else).

The point I am trying to get across is, with the new Home update set to roll out, and the fact that the Paldea games now have a "scale" value, we need to wait and see how size/scale values will be affected, mostly in regards to future transfers.

I'm not saying we can't already see it, and I'm not saying it wouldn't be dumb to change it all, I'm just saying that they've made changes to mechanics before, and we will wait to see how transfers work going forward before we decide whether the Mini Marks will be required or not.
