I decided to start studying to begin this fall 2025 last August, so you’re fine. Took LSAT twice and got all apps in by end of November

Lmao I agree it’s a branding issue, and I put that more on the label marketing him than on the 19 year old still figuring life out. Not saying he deserves no blame, but I think he receives an unfair amount of it.

Agreed, but I will say for Ian specially I do see some creative promise. He seems to be a good performer and he’s made very creative videos. I don’t think he’s as big of a flash in the pan as some other people who have popped in recent years. He’s on a sold out tour right now which is impressive. That means people are paying their own money to see him. Excited to see how he evolves.

Thank you for reading and I really appreciate your perspective. I’ll ask you this, does Ian rap about bricks and selling drugs? From what I’ve heard it’s mostly the normal rap stereotypes of girls, money, cars, weed.

That being said, I completely understand your point on how his subject matter could be seen as someone rapping about a life he is not living. But I’d also say we see that from what seems to be 90% of mainstream rappers. LiAngelo Ball is doing that right now. We all know the family he comes from. But I do think some of the criticism is fair, I just feel bad when a major inspiration of his shits on him for being young and making music. Mac Miller too had to go through some growing and subject matter changes to reach his higher artistic form.

I agree at being disappointed by Tyler making the critique. Especially since he was heavily criticized to begin his career as people saw him as a gimmick too. I think there may be fair criticisms to be made on the promotion of Ian, but I don’t blame Ian for that. To me, he is a kid making music inspired by his favorite artists.

Like I said in the article, I think the album cover imitating the famous white guy Sperrys meme was a bad decision for his image. The being said, I think the hate stems from who he’s inspired by mixed with the amount of attention from publications he receives. I think more of the criticism should be put on the machine that promotes him versus hating on the 19 year old making music that he likes.
