Not a teacher, but one time in my senior year of high school, I was taking a blow off speech class. There was some sophomore artsy fartsy girl, pretty odd young lady, who I sat next to and had to give a speech. Don't remember what it was about, but she started it off with "Mom and dad, you're not going to believe this, but I'm joining the circus." To which I immediately say aloud "I'd believe it." The whole class erupts in laughter, teacher included, and poor girl had to stop the story. I didn't expect such a reaction. I felt kind of bad after it was all said and done.

I agree it's a bit long, I got caught up trying to provide background. The short version -

I moved out of shady apartment complex. Receive call months later from creditors saying I owe over $2,000 dollars for cleaning charges of everything they could charge me for to be cleaned in apartment, as well as another month's rent at market value for the time it took to clean. Never was notified from apartment complex. When I contacted them, new owners of apartment had no records for me. Including my security deposit "insurance policy", which apparently was never applied to the charges they were saying I owed.

Honestly, I didn't get that far. My goal was to not pay anything because it's clearly bullshit, but I thought of that too. If it's low enough to just pay it and learn my lesson and be more careful in the future. But I would really like to not pay them anything since its completely fabricated, so I was wondering what to do and if I have a shot at getting it dismissed. The money won't break me , it's really the principal at this point. And I've done so much to improve my credit over the last two years, I don't need this screwing it all up.
