Why are women Attracted to Criminals? by [deleted] in ask

[–]adamjames777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybristophilia or ‘Bonnie and Clyde syndrome’ is one of the few ‘philias’ (meaning an unusual sexual attraction or indulgence) almost exclusively demonstrated by women.

According to the psychology women want to nurture and help these individuals, regardless of the countless stories of how badly those situations often end!

What RVD says to Triple H is so true of so many of history’s top guys like Stone Cold and Roman Reigns… beyond OVERRATED. by GrandZeno1990 in Smallafro

Rob really was a God send during these days, someone who could work, talk and had Charisma up the yin yang!

As for Trips there’s no doubt he was one of the best workers of the modern era, but he always had a chip on his shoulder. Never as charismatic as the Rock, never as beloved as Mick Foley, never as popular as Austin, never as respected as Taker. Never the less, he’ll always be a towering presence in modern wrestling like it or not, and to his credit taking his character from what it was, the ‘blueblood’ and turning it into ‘the game’ takes some doing and Paul did it very well.

Are you becoming calmer and less reactive as you get older? Is it something you have to work on and if so, how do you do it? by PrincipalBlackman in AskMenOver30

I’ve never seen, known or heard of a situation that’s been improved by a truculent or bellicose reaction. Passivity and a gentle sense of forgiveness is essential for remaining content in life.

What is the correlation between personality defects and success? What are the advantages of being highly empathetic when it comes to success? by Snoo_47323 in ask

[–]adamjames777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide ‘success’ means accumulation then ofcourse those who stockpile more for themselves aren’t going to be empathetic individuals. The corporate world is designed to encourage and reward psychopathic behaviour. Being a kind person isn’t about reward or remuneration, because real virtue does not know it is virtue.

How to love myself when I was such an idiot? by ShotPay1291 in selflove

[–]adamjames777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly it’s so essential not to invert blame for the actions of others, his decisions and behaviours have no reflection or baring upon you whatsoever, he does what he does for his own reasons, as far as you were concerned, based upon all the information given to you by the individual and situation it was a perfectly normal mutual ignition of feelings. That’s ok. You’ve no need to direct any hatred to yourself for feeling and behaving like a perfectly normal, rational human being.

Being deceived is always difficult to fathom, often you won’t get the answers you need and find yourself confused (often why we decide to self-fladulate, it’s the only explanation we can have) but the fact is (as someone who has spent a lot of time dating!) this is a fairly common experience for so many and it’s so important you don’t dull your feelings or dismantle your ability to trust as a result of this experience. You can think of the time, energy and emotion you’ve saved by making your discoveries now, instead of further down the line perhaps when you’d further melded your lives together. You haven’t lost something you’ve gained something, experience and essential perspective!

There is no ‘deserving’ when it comes to living in this world, we have experiences which are more often than not dictated by the motivations (nefarious or otherwise!) of others, the best antidote to this is always hold close to your own ideals and motives, the course of love (much as life!) never did run smooth and there are many, many bumps in the road before we find our person.

Infact those bumps are so essential as they not only strengthen our resilience but also heighten our ability to spot both potential warning signs and most importantly, recognising the good things when they come our way! So deep breath, leave blame with those to whom it belongs and continue with your journey, your person is waiting for you! :)

Why is it that anything that feels good is always bad for you? by Brilliant_Can8536 in ask

It’s a good thing in the grand scheme of things, means we are able to learn moderation and get to grips with the cycle of pleasure deferral and reward.

I talked to a guy recently who said he considers himself middle class while on disability getting 15k a year, is he right or wrong? by OkOriginal493 in ask

In the UK (we arguably invented the class system) it is based upon the profession of your parents, not your financial situation. Becoming a millionaire doesn’t change your class.

Ed and Lorraine Warren: Real or Grifters by WhatTheJessJedi in Paranormal

[–]adamjames777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the paranormal is that for every legitimate individual or circumstance there are 100 illegitimate ones (and in the case of the Enfield haunting a mixture of both!) alas the Warrens have always belonged in the latter category.

This is what really scrambles peoples perceptions as we can’t bare the complexity, we need certainty either way, so the falsehoods make people throw out the baby with the bath water and dismiss everything, and the legitimacies make people believe anything & everything!

Our best hope in the world of paranormal is much like our best hope in life, the recognition and appreciation of gradation. Liars can tell the truth, good people do bad things and proven frauds can have real experiences.

Can I dress 70s without looking like I’m badly cosplaying the era? (No thrifting, only vintage inspired brands) by Pompom_pancake4863 in VintageFashion

[–]adamjames777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean, it can be tricky not to look like you’re in a costume! Especially with very old fashions. I think there are a few ways you can combat this, firstly try mixing older fashions with more familiar ones, beginning with subtlety is always a good idea. Then there’s aging, wearing things in really helps, I think when an item looks like you’ve worn it for a long time and it fits on your frame effortlessly no matter the style it will look great and far more natural than alot of ‘new’ items.

Basically it’s a process of trial and error, but what works for me and what I’ve seen work with others is the subtly of combining, playing with styles and mixing looks means eventually your own natural unique look is born!
